I still get 'unable to place call' - aaarrrgghhh I've also got dial-up setting for wap , which I prefer to use and that just times out. Edited September 6, 2005 by Wombleuk

Guest himesh Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 i dont understand 1mb? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you get one mb of usage i.e, you can transfer one meg of data per month for free, anything over that and you have to pay.
Guest charleypetersen Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I assume you have a prepaid SIM and not a contract. Start by deleting all existing dialup, proxy and GPRS settings and then try the following. Start>Settings>Data Connections>Menu>Edit Connections GPRS Connection: Description: O2 GPRS Wap Connects to: The Internet Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank Proxy connection: Description: O2 WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: Wap Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: In the main data connections menu make 'WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP' In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections, untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select network: WAP network. Try accessing http://www.google.com If you get an 'unable to connect' error then change the GPRS connection to Genie settings. Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: geniewap Password: password MMS setup GPRS connection: (use whichever APN, username, password that works above) Description: O2 MMS Connects to: Secure WAP network Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank In the main data connections menu. Secure wap connection: O2 MMS Start>Messaging>Media Messages>Menu>Options>Account Setup>Media Messages Menu- Edit connections - Menu- Add Server: O2 MMS Download Messsages: automatically Outgoing message size: less than 100kb Allowed message types: personal Menu>Edit connections Description: O2 MMS MMSC Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Data Connection: Secure WAP network Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway I.P Address: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201 Hope this helps :o <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i have tried using these settings but my phone doesnt even have half of these fields in it. i have an o2 contract sim in my phone. is it different settings?
Guest charleypetersen Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Martin u absolute genius!!!!!! i cant beleive ive got it working again!!! YESSSSSS :( you should update the settings repository with those instructions because ive been trying all the settings there for mths with no joy. Id given up completely til i saw this thread. genius  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are these the wap settings for c550 with an 02 contract sim you are talking about? if so please could you post them so i can use them. many thanks :o
Guest martin Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 The above is for GPRS WAP on prepaid and to get the same thing with a contract SIM you will need to change the GPRS connection data. GPRS WAP service Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: o2wap Password: password Also with a contract SIM you should be able to subscribe to the GPRS internet service (mobile web) which O2 CS can help you with. You would then create a GPRS connection with the details below and attach it to the Internet Connection in Settings-Data connection. GPRS Internet service Access point: mobile.o2.co.uk Username: o2web Password: password Hope it helps :o
Guest charleypetersen Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 thanks for the help. what is the difference between wap and gprs? and what is o2 cs? which settings will enable internet explorer to work? sorry if i sound a bit dim
Guest usdiver Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 I have the genie sim card too and phone works fine on the net, but used to be free free free...now it costs out the ear. Not even 1mb for free.
