Mate, I'm doing the same as you. After owning an Omnia for about 10 months now, it's time to say goodbye.

After approximately 100 flashes of various ROM's, the HD2 has taken my attention and the Omnia will be retired to a draw (as a back up phone).

It's a sad month

People should also consider Omnia2 for upgrading:P

Here my opinion, Omnia2 is more of a all-rounder while the HD2 is more of a "specialist" (meaning it's better IF you don't mind the cons)

HD2 pros:

- it's quite faster than Omnia2

- capacitative screen is more responsive (even if Omnia2 still very good for a resistive)

- bigger screen

- better UI than Samsung UI

- better support for customs ROMs at xda-developer

HD2 cons:

- capacitative screen may cause problems with older applications which requires a stylus of finger nail to cilck on small checkboxes; also the same about excell files or any documents showing a lot of small formatted information; can not be used with gloves

- too big size for pocket (of course depends which kind of pocket^^) or to be used easily with one hand

- NO AMOLED screen

- TOO small of a battery for such large screen (need to check for people testing the battery life)

- NO internal storage

- NO TV-out

- HSDPA worse than Omnia2

- more expensive (this may depends on contracts and where you live)

The Omnia II is becoming more and more for me as a suitable replacement for the Omnia. The HD2 has a great screen and a great CPU, but the Omnia II will have the 3G frequencies we use here in Venezuela (850/1900), and also has a very good CPU, screen and secondary camera (HD2 is not 3G 850/1900, no secondary camera). So I think that Omnia II may very well be my next phone.

I'm ready for something new myself. Just wish the US wasn't so slow to pick up phones. Now that Android mania is sweeping who knows when we'll see it. I can't go any longer without 3G speeds even though the omnia is holding its own against other phones.

If you give me money to buy a HD2, I will change my Omnia, but at this moment buy a HD2 is waste of money, because HD2 is a good Smartphone for 8-9 months, but after this time, we'll have Windows Mobile 7 and as far as I know HD2 is not capable to run Windows 7

I'm sorry, but I'm jumping ship whenever my contract expires. Palm's WebOS looks amazing, and is everything that I've always wanted in a phone. I use PointUI, and the cards system is something that I enjoy. Plus, on Sprint's network hopefully I'll get better bandwidth! Right now in the U.S. I'm stuck with Edge connections. :D I'm a fan of WM, but unless WM7 offers something that rivals Palm before March 2010, I'm gone. But until then, I'm stuck with my Omnia. :)

On the down side, I really do hate the QWERTY keyboard. But sometimes I wish our Omnia had one haha!

Just checked out the HD2-Roms at XDA...

Seems to me that there are no 6.5.1 Roms cooked yet? Only 6.5 Roms...

Changing back to this would be a great step back for me because iam using the 6.5.1 Style quite a while for now (thx to sector :) )

I know, everything's just starting but if i get a HD2 now, i would feel like starting again with my omnia ~15 Months ago and i dont want to wait another 15 Months to get a fast and stable Rom just like the latest 235XX Omnia Roms are...

Also iam believing that in the next Year the market will change a lot: For me, Android is the way to go and its a shame that HTC wont support Android on the HD2. Yes its possible that it will be ported by Fans... Just like on the Omnia...

So, iam waiting till Summer and then i check if Andoid is doing fine. Maybe on the HD2 but for now iam sure it will be not a plain-WinMo-Device again.

The HD2 is strong enough to run WM7, and *I believe* it will be a likely candidate for WM7 alpha's (which will give it the Kernel support it needs).

Once the US gets it's version, I'll be on the HD2 bandwagon.

What he ^^said. I just hope it is on Verizon. I would hate to have to break another contract for a phone...but i will do it.

HTC with a Qualcomm CPU is a clear no-go. No matter how fast it runs. Simple isn't it?! :)

The explanation is missing ;P

I bought the Omnia a few months ago and I will stick to it until the HD2 gets cheaper. I dunno for sure if I want to get another WinMo phone... it gets boring. It took me two months to "explore" the Omnia... there won't be much to explore with the Leo as I would use the same programs. I know that there are many customizations made by HTC, but it will get boring. It will depend on what Apple has in store at that time. If there is a new wooow-iphone, I think I will try out the iphone.

Guest Quang05BlkBoxsterS n Omnia

ahhh...I still have the Omnia i900 since last Sep with Qbus7 DXI.. and love it because it has been very stable. Only needs a soft reboot once or twice a month, seriously. So the wm6.5 cooked rom is the next play ground (have tried 2D but it was not 100% compatible with the nav app so been using SPB v2, used SPB v3 but too lazy to re-install it). Until when I get REALLY sick and tired of wm6.5 which may even take more time than 6.1 then I'll upgrade to something...have REALLY looked hard repeatedly at OHD, TG1, N97, then O2, N900 and now HD2 but...the dream PDA phone of mine (with all available hw/sw today) has not arrived yet with 3.7" AMOLED super sensitive and multi touch resistive screen (for stylus or hand drawing/writing regconition) with anti scratch/glare and finger print screen (no need for screen protector) loaded with 1G snap dragon, biggest rom/ram, 32G internal with external micro SD, at least 5mp camera with xenon flash and true HD video recording with superior sound, auto rotation in all apps, flash/java/divx and all audio/video codecs support, true world gsm and HSDPA, xt9, customisable voice command for all apps, customisable UI with different animated themes/background at 4 different times (morning, afternoon, evening and night), mobile office with full excel functions like its desktop version, ...omg....blah blah...

AND WHERE THE H... is that dream phone of mine? hic hic and I am getting old hu hu
