Hi, I have just installed JJ9! My first ROM, woot! It's running well so far. I'm just getting things set up and will continue to play with it for a while. Wifi seems to come back by itself after sleeping... no need for the Blade Wifi Fix.

A couple of questions (feel free to shout at my if they are buried in the thread elsewhere)...

I see an application in the Task Manager applications list called Quickoffice (4.74MB), but all its buttons are greyed and it doesn't show up in the app drawer. I'm curious why it's there, and can it be safely removed with Titanium Backup? Edit: Ha! Actually it's fully functional and a fairly adequate document viewer... it just doesn't seem to have a frontend, and only offers itself when selecting files in a file browser. Might keep it.

I see two FM radios: a crap one that doesn't work, and a pretty one that works quite well. Again, safe to delete the broken one with Titanium?

I'm using JJ9 and it seems everything fine, but I have a question about LEDs notifications. Is there possible to fix that problem, when I get SMS or missed call and screen is on, LED on back button blinks, but when screen is off, LED is also off. When charging, LED blinks OK even on blank screen. Also when charging I can turn on the screen with any front button, but when not charging, only with top power bottom. Are these problems fixable or this is such a phone's design? Thanks

getting some "could not connect" ("could not make connection"?) or similar, iphone style popup sometimes when waking phone, never saw this with FF/2.1 , anyone have any suggestions how to suppress that? not sure which app is generating that (K9, a widget?) or if its the phone system - mainly the message itself is annoying. perhaps its trying to do background syncs whilst asleep or immediately when waking before wifi restarts. anyone else?

That's the correct behaviour. The phone doesn't fully sleep when charging. So any button restores the display... if your phone is on battery and the buttons wake the phone, it ain't sleeping and the battery will run down quickly.

So coming fresh from the stock 2.1, I'm noticing some differences. Not exactly better or worse, just differences. I don't know if they are standard differences between 2.1 and 2.2, or whether they are unique to this ROM.

With stock 2.1, when you plugged it into the computer the phone popped up a window asking if you want to mount the SD card. With JJ you have to pull down the notification bar, tap the notification, and get to a screen where you can "Turn on USB storage". It's more presses, but at least it doesn't nag me every time.

I briefly see a H symbol in the notification bar. I didn't know the phone was capable of HSDPA! I never saw that on 2.1 (on Orange). It's only very brief however... like it tries HSDPA first, then goes to 3G.

With 2.1 you could see accurate signal strength in Settings/About Phone/Status. Now it's not there. I'm sure an app could do it, but I liked seeing it there.

I've now lost the ability to set different wallpaper for the lockscreen and homescreen! With stock 2.1 it was a slight pain to have to return to the standard "Launcher" to choose between lockscreen or homescreen wallpaper. But now I see that even the standard Launcher does no such thing... any new wallpaper gets set for both. Is there a fix?

The camera's exposure change setting doesn't seem to do anything -- exposure doesn't get brighter or darker.

Hi there. I have a new ZTE Blade in my possession. JJ RLS9 installed, with Clockwork 3.0.

Now I'm tryin to add the circle battery plugin, but clockwork says:

Amend scriptin (update-script) is no longer supported.

Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.

[...]

What should I do now?

Hi KK

So what's your future plans for JJ?

I'm using RSL7 and its running fine for me... no complaints. However I'm keen to find out if your near a final release as the number of error reports and fixes seem to be reducing. I will of course upgrade to that if it's planned if not I might stick with my current setup.

Many thanks for all your hard work on this great rom.

This is a design issue with the phone. There's an app called NoLed you can use which will keep the phone awake if you miss a call/text.

Hello everyone,

sorry for my English but I'm using google translate I have the same problem with led to this Rom, i dont've sms notifications or missed calls, it is possible to fix this problem?

Finally, fantastic ROM (JJ9), try just yet but it seems fast and stable!

Thanks

j.

use clockwork link in first post.
So I have to wipe out my actual Clockwork and go back to a previous version? Is that really necessary? ;) Is a bit annoying...

It is, since 3.x does not support the used scripting.

So coming fresh from the stock 2.1, I'm noticing some differences...

With 2.1 you could see accurate signal strength in Settings/About Phone/Status. Now it's not there. I'm sure an app could do it, but I liked seeing it there.

...

The camera's exposure change setting doesn't seem to do anything -- exposure doesn't get brighter or darker.

think i see both these issues

definitely the camera exposure control doesn't work (all other camera controls seem to work), i dont know for sure it worked in 2.1 though

signal strength - one in system tray! - always seems to show max for cell. for wifi indicator works normally i think.

to summarise then here's the issues i have seen with JJ9 (standard uk OLED OSF/blade)

hw accel, and 0x90 mod

- cannot copy paste network key (simple fix: include a text editor please!)

- virtual provider name not shown (only cosmetic i think)

- some "connection could not be made" errors when waking

- camera control exposure not working

- dialler causing wakes - reducing battery runtime

- no headphone icon? (headphones works fine)

in case this sounds negative, the improved speed and responsiveness of the ui mean i'm definitely sticking with this or another 2.2 rom unless any showstopper comes along (couldnt make calls or text yesterday until i rebooted, hopefully that won't happen again!)

i havent yet once had the "screen runs away with me" whilst scrolling bug that happened regularly on 2.1 FF ;) possibly related to touch screen cpu usage bug on 2.1?

@others: Here's an apk where I manually edited the version to 25/2.3.6.1, so it should help with the market app notifying about the updates: http://www.mediafire.com/?ao2ywavjpd975jp.

I've just put this on my phone, using root explorer. It's too early for me to say with certainty that it's solved the problem but so far, after a reboot, it's loaded all 4 of my root apps first time so it's looking promising! Time will tell. ;) It also seemed to grant root access MUCH faster than the old app even when the old app worked. So it's definitely doing something different!

Thanks!

.... replaced framework.jar with the one found in r0.1 de-crossed, tested everything but only to find Browser force-closes, so replaced Browser.apk as well. Everything seems to work flawlessly afterwards.

...

I've running your fix now for 2 days and its really great: partitial wake for dialer, 6 hours after disconnecting: 1m38

thanks

2.2. I removed all the languages, but English. I guess I could get those back, if anyone really needs them. I can compile this for 2.1 too now, because when I started working I had no idea why it didn't compile in the first place and thus I used 2.2. Edited by Janil

Yes, I've same problem with my phone and I don't know how to stop it! Anyone with a solution?

getting some "could not connect" ("could not make connection"?) or similar, iphone style popup sometimes when waking phone, never saw this with FF/2.1 , anyone have any suggestions how to suppress that? not sure which app is generating that (K9, a widget?) or if its the phone system - mainly the message itself is annoying. perhaps its trying to do background syncs whilst asleep or immediately when waking before wifi restarts. anyone else?

Or use TPT image ;) and I kinda liked RA recovery over CW, menus are a little more thought out.

I see two FM radios: a crap one that doesn't work, and a pretty one that works quite well. Again, safe to delete the broken one with Titanium?

I got the same question too. ;) Somebody pls. reply...
