To be honest, despite what they claim, the source on thier site is only really for the Blade, and it took 3 attempts before we got something that would build and work...

and that is before you look at the compatibility with the other ZTE devices it claims to support:

Building it for the Racer - no camera

building it for the V8 - will not build due to missing files

building it for the Joe - no camera, and issues with touch screen.

and not to mention you have to fix the typos in the code to get anything to build on any device.

ZTE have no real idea about version control, they hack around in the kernel till it works with the device in question, put out a software release and then start hacking away to add support for the next device, and break compatibility with the older hardware.

I hope they have learnt the lesson with the blade, very tellingly the kernel source they put out for the Blade is JUST the blade, it cant support any other device...

The other interesting thing tho, this X850 if they actually start selling it commercially, they have to put out the source code for the kernel, so its possible we could get something out of that...

couldnt we get some one to do a rom dump for x850 to help??

The racer and the x850 are the same if you flash the Chinese 1.2 rom it boots only the ril is brocken

but if you do a t.p.t of the chinese rom you can fix the ril

x850 and Racer are same device..

So how far have you guys come with the 2.2 ROM?

If camera is the only thing that's not working, than afaic ROM is done!

Camera is so crappy that it won't hurt a bit not to have it working :-D

and the o.p of this rom used the zte 852 rom dump and used the blades kernal to make it boot but

the funny this is that the zte852 uses the same -base address as the chinese v880

Flehi chews already 32g class 10 (for the sample set and the left)

Reflash in 5sec now nothing more.

One huge minus BATTERY Well ....

Soon already released firmware 2.2

official response from the MTS and ZTE (It's ZTE Racer)

The fact that the screen is not capacitive +, with a diagonal.

I am completely satisfied with its size, does not like lopatyChitat fully Hide

If you take the standard 2.1 kernal source from ZTE and build it, you can boot your device, but the camera does not work.

The two devices have the same camera hardware so the problem has to be in the board define for the racer

I've not really had time to look at any of this, I was in a car accident at the weekend, and am taking medication that can best be described as 'a voyage to trip-out city'

I'll work on it once I return to sanity....

have you had the time to have a look at the kernal?

I think I have a search result. Check this out:

http://www.freelists.org/post/ztebladeopen...urce-New-Source

about wifi driver, our developer told me that this code is provided by a third party company, so we do not have any permission to public this code.

i get uname -a in my ZTE racer and i got

Linux version 2.6.29 jiweijun@localhost

I think jiweijun is a nick name of man who compile the kernel, and then i check in

http://www.freelists.org/post/ztebladeopen...urce-New-Source

Hi Benny, I have added Jiweijun to the list.

so i mail this man,Jiweijun about where can we get driver for wifi. see whats get

Check this out:

The Hungarian blade ROM uses a kernel that was compiled on the 26th of

october and that kernel has pinch-zoom in the browser app. That means that

they DO have the real kernel source but haven't shared the real thing with

us. Maybe the files in arch/arm/mach-msm/* are correct but stuff that are

outside that directory like the battery driver and the touchscreen driver

is not from the blade source they use. I did have to change a file in

arch/arm/mach_msm/ to fix the powerbutton thing though but that could also

have been done by modifying a .h file that lives somewhere in

include/linux/.

"Linux version 2.6.29 (jiweijun@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) (gcc version 4.4.0

(GCC) ) #1 PREEMPT Tue Oct 26 16:39:50 CST 2010"

I'm sure the person with the username jiweijun knows where the real source

is.

well if that info is true, it explains alot having the drivers ripped off of the kernel -.-

i think i got the idia how to fix wifi, check this out:

FYI, it may be to early to be sure but I may have fixed the wifi issue. It's

not the driver but the wpa_supplicant binary. I replaced it with the one from

my Huawei U8100 and so far it reconnects wifi perfectly. It's in Hungarian

Hedgehog RLS2. I've done some other changes while trying to get it to work but

I'm pretty sure replacing wpa_supplicant was the thing that fixed it. (If it's

fixed. Only tried it with one wlan so far)

So, before i go sleep lets check what we have.

1. We have mailing list of ZTE personal http://www.freelists.org/archive/ztebladeopensource/

2. After reading this list we have GIT of REAL kernel source of ZTE

https://github.com/jvaughan/san-francisco-kernel

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ap...;hl=en_GB#gid=0

3. We have some ideas how to fix some issues

so, lets try... i think i will get wpa_supplicant binary of Huawei U8100

see ia

I really love the attitude you guys have towards getting this ROM to work :( I'm sorry I can't really be any help around here... But so many people appreciate what you're doing here :( Thanks guys and good luck with the fixing the various issues with the camera and wifi!

NEWB QUESTION: Was the phone in the Youtube video with the camera working a Racer?
