As I promised on Twitter, here is the Gingerbread ROM leak for the T-Mobile G2X, as featured on thisismynext.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS ON THE OPTIMUS 2X!

Please read the following points before downloading...

  • This release is release-key signed which leads me to think it could become the 'official release'
  • This release does NOT include an updated baseband, which will follow later (as soon as I have it, so will you)
  • I have repacked the ROM to update zip format and pre-rooted it, that aside, it's 100% stock
  • Please do not deep link or mirror / rehost the update zip
  • Ensure you make a backup before installing
  • Enjoy

    • DOWNLOAD (Mediafire Pro) - MD5: 5992d38b6427c06a2ce0bfeb259d201c

Noob alert: if u were to take the RIL files out, then flash cm7 and without wiping, flash the port you tried for O2X, will it work?

First, thanks. I'm stoked to give it a whirl. So what's the deal with the wifi as mentioned in the video? Does autosync work over wifi or just net?

I know the odds are slim, but any sign of 850/1900 bands in there?

My question was if paul could do some coding so this rom could be flashed on o2x

since paul put "not yet" i think its safe to assume that he working on porting this across for the o2x owners.

Personally I would love to have this rom on my 02x, all I would like is pure android gingerbread.

If I know that getting it would be a bit awkward I wouldn't have bothered with the phone.

Do we flash this with rom manager, like with other ROMs?

I have just finished installing it. I applied it through ClockworkMod Recovery (after making a backup, of course!).

I didn't wipe first, and it appears to have left everything except my home screens intact. It even kept my wallpaper.

It runs great.

One thing that is gone (sadly) is the screenshot function. Unless it's become a different key combination.

EDIT: Screenshot does work, I was doing it wrong.

I flashed with clockwork (and wiped) and now I have a bootloop that won't resolve regardless of how many wipes I do. Also clockwork is gone, and nvflash is not working, so I'm bricked.

Try to use Smart Flash to restore the original LG's rom.

Power off the phone and remove the battery.

After that push the volume - and plugin the mini USB cable.

You can found a full guide on that forum.

Seems to me super smooth

I wonder what will happen after installing a few apps on it, will it act like LG's Stock ?

Cheers
