Qualcomm really do seem to be trying to right their wrongs when it comes to helping the modding community. Only a fortnight ago we saw drivers released for all Adreno GPUs running with ARMv7 processors (such as the Snapdragon S2 and S3 series chips). After a couple of weeks of grumbling and petitions from owners of ARMv6 based devices, Qualcomm has released compatible drivers for these lower end devices, too.

Qualcomm’s own words on the matter say:

Quote

This release contains the user-mode driver binaries for Qualcomm's Adreno 2xx GPU on Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich for ARMv6 based chipsets. It has been tested with the CAF release M8960AAAAANLYA1030. Supports any Adreno 2xx GPU on Android ICS using the ARMv6 chipset (7x27). Google's libRS (LLVM) does not currently support ARMv6.

Devices that will benefit from this include ZTE's Blade, Skate, Crescent, Racer and Tureis, Sony's X8 and X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro, Samsung's Europa, Ace and Mini, plus LG's P500 and P690. We have spoken to the CyanogenMOD ZTE Blade developers and they have advised that some binary blobs are needed for true Video Playback and Recording, but this is still a major breakthrough.

The download is available now from Qualcomm’s developer site.
