Sorry im new hear. root gives you you access to secured parts of the phone that the carrier i.e orange do no want you to have. it also allows you to install apps to your SD card. And flash custom ROMs when they are available. x900 is the indian version of the orange san diego phone Roms & custom Roms are flashable software/operating systems that you flash to the phone that may be modified or newer releases of the operating system. hope that helps p.s correct me if im wrong lol use google it will help !
