Guest djgaynor Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 i want to use a music track as my ringtone ..could someone tell me where to find a program and one hell of an idiots guide on how to do this please ....nice one
Guest nobznss Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Ringtones are really easy. You need to get a program to edit mp3's like CoolEdit Pro. Great program by the way. Once you get that, bring your MP3 into it and make any changes (ie shorten the length of the song; you only need about 30 seconds of play because then the call goes to your voicemail). Once that's finished save your newly created file as a WAV. Really doesn't matter which compression type (or does it?). I may be adding in an extra step, but it works so go with it. After your WAV file has been created, use Windows Sound Recorder and open the file. Once you've done this just save the file as something else (meaning change the name) and then at the bottom of that window there should be a "change" button. Click it and make sure the format is PCM. You can fiddle with the attributes if you want. I prefer 16,000 kHz, 16bit, mono, but it's at your disgression. It makes a bigger file (about 1 meg per 30 sec) but it sounds great. Then just save it and you're done. There's probably a BUNCH of easier ways to tackle this, but I've gotten used to doing it like this. Hope it works!!
Guest nobznss Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Oh, once you've created your WAV file go to http://www.coolsmartphone.com/sounds.htm This will tell you where to put your finished file on your phone. Once you've done that, just go to the rings on your phone, and it should be there! Good luck!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 just place them in IPSMApplication DataSounds You may need to create the "Sounds" folder as sometimes this will not be present.
Guest cybercamel Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I just used the audiostation supplied with windows on my computer. With this you can record straight from CD to a wav file. As has been said, just record about 30 secs. The audiostation (which might be Packard Bell software, not Microsoft) can be found in the Start Menu/Programs/Accessories/Multimedia. One tip though, don't use a current tune, I use Clocks by Coldplay, it get's very confusing when it's on the radio all the time
