Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) Here's my WM5 tweak 'wishes': 1) Option to keep GPRS connected all the time (The shell-orange app does not work). 2) Tweak to sort the IE favourites so the folders remain at the top of the page. 3) Tweak to set the MRU with a predefined lists of apps when the phone starts. (Mids tweak no longer works). Edited October 6, 2005 by Pagemakers
Guest Tech Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 discussion of WM5 is I think prohibitted in these forums.... :o not to be a pain. I'm unsure however alot of ppl ask about where to obtain WM5 after reading these type's of Q's etc... and that sort of stuff is not allowed but i think the tweaks you want can also be done on the WM2003SE devices so it won't differ
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 @Tech I think Page is referring to iMate SP5 tweaks (SP5 runs WM5.0) :o @Pagemakers How about a simple GridToggler? My suggestion: assign speed dial key to each shortcut. A cab version. Im not sure if this will work so kindly use at own risk. Hehehe. WM5.GridToggle.CAB A translation of what is posted here: http://www.peterfoot.net/WindowsMobile50OldSkoolStartMenu.aspx
Guest martin Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 1) Option to keep GPRS connected all the time (The shell-orange app does not work).I take it the WM5 doesn't have Settings-Data Connections Menu-Options anymore ? You used to be able to set 'Idle disconnect' to never.
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Pzee I installed th tweak but I don't see it anywhere.... Martin - GPRS disconnects if you press the red end key (also used to lock the phone). The shell-orange mod used to prevent that from happening but sadly it doesn't work on WM5
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Thanks for trying it Page. Look for 'Grid Toggle' folder on your Start Menu. The 2 shortcuts are inside that folder. Allow cab to be installed and see if it changes grid view. :o
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 No icons in the start menu get created, nor in accessories.
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Since WM5/AS4 does not allow contacts/category sync a nice tweak would be the ability to open contacts with a custom filter set instead of the filter 'show all'.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 No icons in the start menu get created, nor in accessories. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh no. :o Maybe you can just manually create shortcuts. Open \Storage Card\Program Files\GridToggle then create shortcuts to the 2 cab files inside the folder, transfer the shortcuts to your Start Menu then finally, assign speed dial keys.

After copying the "Grid Toggle" folder to the correct Start Menu folder you can see it ans it works great 8) Greetings, Peter

Thats cool. Thanks so much for the info! :o
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Made a bit of inf adjustment. Cab now points to \Windows\Start Menu\Grid Toggle per Peter's tip. I hope I got it right this time... WM5.Grid.Toggle.01.CAB
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Hmm. They still don't get created in \Windows\Start Menu
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Oh my. Now this is quite tough. :| My INF reads... [DestinationDirs] CopyFiles=0,"\Windows\Start Menu\Grid Toggle" On 2003SE, \Windows would be the root windows folder.
Guest Newchurch Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 @pzee: now it works perfectly ... 8) @Pagemakers: have you disabled security ?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 @pzee: now it works perfectly ... 8) Uber cool! Thanks for that Peter! :o How exactly do you unlock the SP5?
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Gees I'm stupid. I forgot to re-install it after un-installing the first version :o Yes it work perfectly! It would be even better if 1 icon could turn the grid on or off. Great work Pzee.
Guest Newchurch Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Uber cool! Thanks for that Peter! :o How exactly do you unlock the SP5? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, I don´t know if "unlock" is correct, but as far as I knwo you have to edit the follwing registry settings if you want to modify special sections of the registry: HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI) and HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert) If you change the settings to the above values it is possible to edit the start menu structure. Greetings Peter
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 6, 2005 Report Posted October 6, 2005 Look for an app called 'SDA Unlock'. It is a small windows exe file. It unlocks (fully) all SPV's and the SP5. You need to do the bit above first though (which does not fully unlock your phone).

Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 #1 Go Look here http://smartphonedubai.com/groupee/forums/...05194#245105194 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the info. :o I compiled it into a CAB. Works on my C500 (no idea with WM5.0) GPRS.AlwaysOn.cab Download, install, restart device.
Guest Pagemakers Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 (edited) Tech/Pzee: 1: Tried that tweak including Pzee's cab file. I have tried your GPRS "Always on" mod and if I press the red end button GPRS still disconnects. Should the tweak prevent this? If not, is there a way to stop it disconnecting? Maybe the tweak I am after is "keep GPRS connected after red end button is pressed". 2) On the SP5 the favourites are sorted alphabetically including any folders. On every other Smartphones I have had the folders stay at the top of the IE favourites list, and then the rest of the favourites are below. On the SP5 if you have a folder called Zoo it will appear at the end of your favourites list. 3) I know that tweak for the start MRU but when you re-boot the phone it remembers what was last on the MRU and does not load the default order from the registry. Pzee: Re the right softkey tweak (Contacts>IE) I have found the right soft key reverts back to contacts (although it still opens IE) when the phone starts up. If you receive a message (so the soft key changes to 'Message', it reverts back to 'IExplorer' after you have clicked the message button. My phone is unlocked. Any idea what could be causing this? Edited October 8, 2005 by Pagemakers
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Hi Paul, Sorry for this late reply. Re the tweak, I have just translated NoBackup's post to cab file. I think that the end call button serves as the 'main switch' to turn off both voice calls and gprs. I believe there is no way to override that ? Re right soft key tweak: the tweak is intended for the WM2003SE units. Maybe they (MS) have changed bits of settings/configurations on the WM5's registry so that a WM2003SE tweak may seem to install but behaves differently.
