Guest argh Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 The idea is this: 1) Install the Mobile Powertoys and Softcam. 2) Make an ActiveSync connection from your phone to your PC. 3) Start ActiveSync remote display. 4) Configure your webcam application (such as MSN) to use the "Luminositi Softcam [VFW]" 5) Start your webcam application. 6) Drag and resize the Softcam frame to surround the remote display. Well... it works for me. Very clever, whoever thought of that.
Guest duke_nookem Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Im nearly there but when I open msn, run "audio /video tuning options" and it starts the wizard... I choose webcam as the softcam.. msn crashes. I had msn 6.2, I downloaded version 7 but it doesnt help. It crashes when it opens softcam automatically when running the wizard. It also crashes this way if I have opened softcam before hand. Any ideas guys ? Thanks Duke
Guest TKJ Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I can't get it to work either.. My problem is that I can't choose the softcam in MSN.. It doesn't show.. any ideas? TKJ

Guest misterhamper Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Then i'm running ActiveSync Remote Display and ActiveSync 3.8 (because 4.0 havent anything that 3.8 has), the screen in the Remote Display is all white no matter how long i wait. I can see the Zoom, Tool and that bars at the top, but everything else is white. What should i do? I have Windows XP Service Pack 2, Intel Celeron D335 2,8GHz, 2x512 MB DDR SDRam 400MHz PC3200 Elixir, Radeon 9600 256MB and an Asus VT7 motherboard. My phone is an Orange SPV C500 Smartphone 2003SE with the newest French Rom

Guest yarod_g14 Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 I have been trying to use this with my Magician as well. In theory I can see how this is going to work but in practice no matter which device I sync to my PC all I get is a Very dark red screen when I start the camera APp. I can record input from the phone but I cant see what is coming from the Cam! I have tested XDA MDA compact and E200, all go black or dark red and I get all buttons and tool bars with no picture.
Guest misterhamper Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 6) Drag and resize the Softcam frame to surround the remote display. I can't find out what to do with number 6. Can somebody please explain step no 6 for me in details? What does he mean by Resize the sorround frame to Remote Display? I don't get it at all. Please help me explain no 6 for me, thanks.

You can move this and resize it, as with a normal window. Whatever is shown in this frame will be seen as the webcam image and so you should move and resize the frame so that it is around the remote view of your phone.

Or do you mean as soon as you launch the program Softcam.exe? I still don't get it, sorry
Guest jordanny Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 (edited) I have a problem with remote sync. I can't see on my desktop what the camera sees. I can see through remote everything else, but the image on camera aplication does not show up, it's just a grey backgroud. Could it be a missing codec? It is somehow like when you press PrintScreen over a divx movie and try to paste it in Paint... the film doesn't show up, just black. Edited June 9, 2005 by jordanny
Guest shackk Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 I got it to work perfectly on Yahoo. I did notice that if you are running XP SP 2, and the camera does not broadcast go into the control panel --> choose the firewall and disable it. Restart the computer and then turn the firewall on. Everything worked like a charm!
