Guest dna550 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Some where, Some how, SCH-i910 owners have automatically geotagged photos taken with their Samsung OMNIA. A quick check of the camera settings post CF03 flash does NOT list geotagging as an option. Likewise, the SCH-i910 manual http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-SCH...23135dj592/t/2/ has no mention of geotagging photos. To be continued................
Guest TheDrizzle Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Check out GPSToday (http://www.geoterrestrial.com/) I believe it can GeoTag pictures as long as it is running in the background w/a lock when you take the shot.

Due to us not having MS Assist aGPS abilities, I don't think our camera will ever support geotagging, even though its supported on the i900. So, as mentioned, its going to require third party software.

Guest eufouria Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I replaced the .exe and still see no GPS settings, although my File Explorer has been acting a bit funny lately when replacing files. Can anyone confirm?
Guest usermmg Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I replaced the .exe and still see no GPS settings, although my File Explorer has been acting a bit funny lately when replacing files. Can anyone confirm? try the cab. file from the link i posted... one of them adds the gps setting just don't remember which one. You might also need to restart after replacing the file or installing the cab.
Guest dna550 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) I downloaded the camera cab, installed it, restarted and even fired up the GPS, but still no option for GPS. So, I wondered if there is a registry setting that we could edit? Sure enough there is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Camera:GPS I changed the setting of REG_DWORD setting to it 1 and saved the registry settings. I turned on the GPS and took a picture. But no GeoTagging. Went back into the Registry and the GPS setting was back to 0. I never did see GPS as an optional setting in the camera setup. It seems like we are closer than we were yesterday. If someone has the GPS option available in their camera it would be great if they could look at the registry settings when the GPS is toggled on. I am curious as to what you see there. I need some new ideas This SCH-i910 is running the CF03 ROM. sure we can... just use this and select the gps option in camera settings.... or this camera cab. http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...cam-cab-wanted/ Edited July 28, 2009 by dna550
Guest usermmg Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) that's strange that those files aren't working... my registry settings (GPS) is also set to (1) and when i open my camera right next to the flash icon there's a GPS icon that will be white when GPS is connected. Funny thing is, i got the camera.exe from this forum.. I'm searching right now for the actual post. Be back in a few. OK folks this is what i have. This Camera.exe file is 4 megs, so simply overwrite the one in the windows directory. BE SURE TO SAVE (BACKUP) YOUR ORIGINAL CAM.EXE FILE JUST IN CASE THINGS GET A LITTLE FUNKY. After you overwrite the file you should be able to see the GPS option in camera settings. All you have to do is be locked on to sats. and the GPS icon should appear on-screen when taking pictures. Guest limit77 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I confirm this works on 6.1 (I'm with Telus) Needs the registry value at 1. Little 'sattelite' icon appears in top left (landscape) of viewing area.

Guest limit77 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 usermmg - can you post all of the registry settings you have for 'Camera' , ....perhaps there's something else that needs adjusting??

Guest Adrynalyne Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I'll have to try this. Last time I did, it showed all 0s for lat/long. Of course, that was on cc20.
Guest ely_az Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I have this set up but it is not Geotagging. The GPS icon comes up transparent and then turns white. I can take pictures fine but the tags do not show up in the image file properties like usermmg is showing. I only overwrote the camera.exe in Windows. Do I need to install the cab file as well? Has anyone else besides usermmg actually confirmed the geotags or just that the GPS icon shows up in the camera app?

I was under the inpression this is working without a 3rd party app like locr or geotoday. I have had those working in the past with a bluetooth GPS before the custom ROM days. I am looking for an integrated automatic solution like the i900 version of this phone.
