heyy im new to the forums...=]

i've recently read through the forum about installing the latest revision of andromnia..

i installed the previous rev. of andromnia and when i came to launch andromnia today i had an error when trying to open haret.."The file "haret-0.5.2" cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate...ect"

i was wondering if you guys could help me =]

i formated to ext2 through gparted and put the rootfs file on my SD card and haret in my documents

any ideas?

All done!.. i had to do a hard reset.. nevermind

chmod -r 777 /media/disk

when i run that command it just tells me that theres no such file or directory...

it then tells me that premission is denied to change permissions

should i just give up, i cannot get it to work at all, after various failed attempts the other night, plus a few tonight i just dont know what im doing wrong.

Ive copied the newest haret and image file into my storage, formatted and partitioned my sd into ext2 (tried 1gb and 2gb variations) changed permissions by typing 'sudo chown -R ubuntu /media/disk' and then 'chomod -R 777 /media/disk' into terminal and then copied all of the files from rootfs onto the sd, unmounted and it still comes up with the errors mentioned above in Smile God's image and then reboots. This thing is driving me crazy!!! and no-one seems to have a proper answer

Also does anyone elses sd have the folder lost+found on it when you format it?

The disk may not be mounted at /media/disk or you don't have permissions to modify the directory. Try "ls /media/disk" if it lists a number of files then it's mounted there.

Are you using "chmod" or "chomod"? There's no such command as "chomod". Again, are you using sudo when you chmod it?

Also does anyone elses sd have the folder lost+found on it when you format it?

The lost+found directory is normal.

Is the EXT2 partition on your SD card a primary partition and is it the first partition on the device? I had an issue when I created a partition AFTER a fat32 partition on the SD card.

Can someone post a comment to the latest rev, please?

On the first page/post, the latest rev is 103 but here some people discuss about 160.

I heard it should be possible to acticate WiFi and receive SMS? Is that correct?

Just wondering. Thank you.

First you have to copy the files from rootfs to the sdcard. Type ls /media and see if there is an folder named disk or whatever, where your ext2 partition of your sdcard is mounted. After copying the files from rootfs you have to type "sudo chmod 777 -R /media/disk/" (or wherever your sdcard is mounted) then type "umount /media/disk" (or wherever your sdcard is mounted and wait while the system is unmounting your sdcard (you know when the system has finished when you can type other commands on the terminal or so... :) ). Then everything should work fine!

Attention:

Is the EXT2 partition on your SD card a primary partition and is it the first partition on the device? I had an issue when I created a partition AFTER a fat32 partition on the SD card.

finally after many attempts i was able to run it on my omnia!!!!! I also created a short video of it, below the link:

how did you that? i have the same problem (0->0)...

i don`t understand... i copied all file to my sd card (in Kubuntu with sudo dolphin, and unmount disk...)

in Ubuntu i tried the command sudo nautilus but in the file manager i don`t see the sd card so i`m stucked.

i tried the command sudo chown root:root /media/disk but nothing happens...

i`m stucked again. ;)

can you help me?

i`m a windows user so it is very difficult to do anything in linux. :)

revision 163 right now :)

And yes, we can send/receive SMS and use the Wifi, even if it's not working for everyone.

Getting close eh?
No. They still have a lot of work to do.

They have to:

- enable the sound because it's not working

- make a call (so far only SMS)

But they're making progress.

Ok seemed to work this time however when i typed "umount /media/disk" it states 'umount: /media/disk is not in the fstab (and you are not root) but thanks ;) not sure why it didnt work before

There seems to be an error with the battery driver though, reckoned i only had 15% left, ive noticed a few people have had this problem

@ Ice_Trey

Yeah you need an sd card to put the rootfs.

Here's the website with the latest ROOTFS & IMage.

http://pmaster.no/andromnia/

Cheers

I know it can be daunting, but if you read through the whole thread it will really help. It was posted a few pages back. I'm not judging, I am just giving advice.

So I'm not a developer but I'm very eager to get my hands on Android and I have a question. As soon as the Samsung i7500 comes out, will you be able to get necessary drivers and other features out of it? I'm assuming since its Samsung the drivers will be similar. Also so far all the Android phones I've seen have the normal call and end buttons as well as the home and back buttons, how will the home and back buttons be supported on the omnia or are they even that necessary?

I believe it would be enough to add http://pmaster.no/andromnia/ link into the first post.

PS: I just received my first SMS, keep up the good work guys! :)

I've tried anything now.

I always get this message and then it freezes:

"Warning: Unable to open an initial console. Failed to execute /init. Kernel Panic - not syncing: No init found, Try passing Init option to kernel."

i made an ext3 partition and copied the rootfs files on the card. i also did the chmod 777 permissions.

if it is like in emDebian check if you have a symlink on /init with /sbin/init. This helps for me with unpacking and everything works fine:

tar zxvpf emdebian_base.tgz (should work with andromnia too!)

if you don't have a symlink again type ln -s /sbin/init /init

Attention: modify the path to the path where your mounted partition is!!

i still dont know how to install it?!!

do i need to format the memory card?

1. start with linux (e.g. ubuntu livecd or something else),

2. open gparted and make an ext2 partition on your sdcard (maybe you have to unmount the device before you can change anything (type in the console umount /dev/sd?? - means your sdcard device (normally sda or sdb) - second ? means the partition number (or you type * instead of a number)) - maybe you must restart gparted,

3. after creating a new ext2 partiton mount your partition by typing sudo mount /dev/sd?? /mnt (here you must specify the partition number - 1 for the first, 2 for the second, ... - no number means the device and a device can't be mounted!)

4. copy your rootfs to the sdcard (sudo cp <rootfs> /mnt)

5. goto /mnt (cd /mnt)

6. unpack the archive (sudo tar zxvpf <rootfs_archive> (if it is a tar.gz or tgz, if it is a tar you can't use the option "z")

7. remove your archive if it exists (sudo rm <rootfs_archive>)

(7a. May be you have to make sudo chmod 777 -R *)

8. goto / (cd ../)

9. unmount your device (sudo umount /mnt) and wait until it has finished.

10. now you have to copy haret and the kernel-image to the main memory of omnia (otherwise you can't start haret  )

11. if your ext2 partition isn't the first one modify in default.txt the partition (root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 change the last number to the partition number!)

12. run haret. normally it would work, otherwise post some errors and maybe anyone know the solution :D

Hi z3ntn3l I had the same problem as you and what helped for me was to take the files out of rootfs and dump them on the disk (ext2/3 partition on sd card) instead of putting the whole folder rootfs on the disk.Could be that it can't access init from the folder. So just copy all the files from rootfs and put them directly on your "disk" and then delete the folder.Hope it helps :D

Hi everybody. I would like to know if somebody get the samsung I7500 (galaxy) files and hardware details.

Perhaps its possible to get our omnia working with nearly the same drivers from the galaxy one.

Actually is not my speciality. Its more system engineering.

Keep it going on you are doing a very good and interesting work.
