Attention NON SD BOOTLOADER downgrade possible

Okay, here is what I did.

First of all I made the mistake of upgrading to the new orange update, this of course changed my bootloader to v1.10

I was quite annoyed at this.

So I then downloaded the Imate update AND the orange update

I uncompressed both into separate folders. I then ran the Orange update again. However, Just AFTER the the 'you will be upgrading your phone from rom ver. to rom ver screen.' I selected OK but REALLY QUICKLY I copied the Imate`s NBK file into the orange folder. Timing is everything. my phone, then proceeded with the update as normal. I think by swapping it at EXACTLY the right time, I bypassed the ROM security checks.

I RECEIVED NO ERRORS AT ALL. However the update froze on the orange sunset screen.

BUT when I reset my phone I discovered that my bootloader had been reflashed down to v.098

I was quite happy. seeing as I could run the imate rom again. I don't fancy trying to replicate this and it may have been a fluke. If it works for you. fantastic. If you brick your phone, I'm sorry but you have been warned.

I must say I'm quite pleased with myself. If it does work I'll be expecting a pat on the back or two. :)

Yup, that also works with the orange 1.37 update, hvis also has the 0.98 bootloader! :)

what os rom version do you have on your phone? was it just the bootloader that was downgraded?

And this is what happen to my phone last sunday. I woke up turn my phone on but after few minutes my phone remains in smartphone 2002 bootup, so i waited for another 5 minutes and its still the same screen so i turn off my phone and on again same thing happen it wont boot up. So i did the best thing to do, do the hard reset, after removing the battery for 1 min, i turn on my phone again but still its the same its stuck at Smartphone 2002, so i decided to wait after about 15 minutes nothing happens, so i do hard reset and hard reset for about 6 times still nothing happens it wont boot up. btw im using orange 1.6, so i decided to reflash my phone. then during checking i got an error saying the rom is corrupted, so i do again and agian it wont flash, i tried orange 1.3 same thing it wont let me flash, then i tried Qtek, Smart 1.7 1.6 1.5 1.3 it wont flash.

I plan to bring my phone back to my telco, but im afraid they wont accept my phone cause i change my rom to Orange, im a Smart subscriber, so i decided to play again with my phone, i click on the orange 1.6 update while its still reading the phone i click on Orange 1.3 and replace NK.nbf, then i was happy to see the screen ready to upgrade but i saw on the screen saying its 1.3 so i click upgrade. after finishing the upgrade i saw congratulation u have upgraded your phone something like that but with 1.6 this time. when i turn on my phone it hangs on the Orange Sunset. but when i check the bootloader i got 0.98 so i quickly flash qtek. now im using qtek rom.

I'm using the new Imate rom. Seems a bit quicker and my mms service works now, I'm running it on o2 pay as you go.

The bootloader included in the rom is 1.47 but for some reason, as I was flashing it , it reverted to 0.98. Maybe during an update it donwgrades your bootloader anyway.

B very careful messing with updates and bootloaders, one simple mistake and your phone may become a nice shiny paperweight.

or you can just download orange rom 1,35 from

1)extract rom 1,35 orange

2)extract rom 1,6 orange

3) move NK.nbf from 1,35 to 1,6 and over write orignal

4)turn your phone on in canary screen and connect to computer

5) click on CaUpgradeUt and run orange 1,6 as normal

6) after finishing upgrade take of battery for 30sec

7) turn on you phone in canary screen now you can see that you have 0.98 bootloader DON'T TURN ON AS normally BUT IN CANARY SCREEN

8)connect your phone to computer and run upgrade you want as normally

i've did it many times and some other ppl had also did it so i know it's work BUT YOU ARE DOING IT YOUR ON RISK

Using this method everything gets downgraded ... Aparently when the 1.6 upgrade checks a device with 1.6 it domes to the conclusion that everything needs to be upgraded (although its to the same version). Running and 1.3x update with 1.6 installed results in the bootloader not being upgraded because its never... The reason is to that is, of course, that it doesn't have any influence on how the OS works as a whole, so therefore the newer the better! ... and its also has the side-effect that any exploitable flaws/bootloader commands get killed permanently ... or so they thought :wink:
