GPRS setting Reg Tweak/help requested WM5

Hi

Can anyone think of a way to create a shortcut to create a *simple* (i.e. as few clicks/steps as possible) way to turn GPRS on and off as the current method for accessing the web/emails?

My SP5 doesn't reliably switch off GPRS when Wifi is on, causing unnecessarily high phone bills from the lovely t-mobile uk.

The people over at the SP5 forum haven't come up with anything so I'm wondering if the clever people over here ;) can think of a way to construst a simple shortcut/script/toggle application that can switch the relevant WM5 registry settings to enable/disable GPRS?

Kam_ suggested a workaround by switching the GPRS profile "Connects to" setting between "Internet" and a unassigned setting e.g. "Work" in my case. Even so, that's still 13 clicks

Basically, it's start> settings > connections > GPRS > 1 (T-Mobile Internet) > [right arrow 3 times] > Done > Done > Done > Done , then back to messaging

And then back again to switch back

For email its a whopping 16 clicks each way :

Select email account > menu > options > Account Options > Select email account (again ) > Next > Next > [right arrow 3 times to select the connection] > Next > Next > Next > Finish > Done > Done

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. What do you mean "doesnt reapear"

Your phone may be different, but on my C500, I just hold down the Home button and from there, pressed #1 to disconnect from GPRS.

Do you mean press Home and 1 at the same time, or home then 1, or home then hash, then 1. I can't get it to do anything.

When this works for you, does it disable GPRS until you re-enable it, or do you mean it just kills an active GPRS data exchange until the next time the phone is due to sync with email?

This works for me on my SP5:

Using a Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE / DRIVERS / BUILTIN / RIL

select GPRSAutoDetach and change the value from 0 to 1.

After you finish checking messages or surfing the Net, press "end Call" twice and the GPRS will disconnect.

tried the reg edit didn't work on my Qtek 8310

how ever you can hit comm manager button then close gprs

how ever you have to then reboot phone for it to reconnect again later.

i would only disable it if it costs you money

I think this would be a fairly simple program to write, just an on-run that edits the registry when run. Unfortunately, I have no experience with mobile programing, so I can't help, but that's a way to go, if you wanna take a bit and look into it, or find someone else who knows more.
