Guest Dumela Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Ok ok new to this Modaco thing, well posted once or twice. I've got my new XDA IQ coming through the post and well, I thought I'd open a can of worms and get the overall opinion of you other SP5, Tornado, Q Teq 8310 Virgin 12** users.... What should I download, add, remove, change, alter or otherwise improve on my new smartphone? I'm very open to suggestion and am not afraid to do a hard reset if the potential alteration will make me crazy with joy... Thanks Dumela  I got Tomtom in the bag already but not worried about parting with a little cash if a good product...
Guest IT Troll Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 One thing you will definitely have to do is application unlock / decertify your phone. Especially if you are wanting to use TomTom.
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) Agreed http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=235408 TomTom don't have a product for WM5 Smartphones, so I suspect you'll have problems with that. Personally I love: Papyrus and Facade CodeWallet Route 66 is quite good, but not had it long enough to know for sure xBar SmartExplorer or Resco Explorer ClearVue Document (Word viewer, but only for emergency use, takes ages to open) You could also look at a few tweaks (you'll have to search Modaco for them, I don't know the links): PIE cache to the miniSD card (very useful) Change the function of the right soft-key (useful, but inconsistent) Edited November 6, 2006 by chucky.egg
Guest conan_troutman Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 ptab and vieka wordpad are two i think will be good programs to have as is autoflight and autokey lock as for reg edits ones that will make the alerts repeat until dismiss is essential otherwise its a simple beep once and your done affair. also store ring tones to on staorage card by plaing them ina "My Documents" folder no reg editing needed saves loads of space. and finally go through the My Documents folder on your phone and delete of move as much as you can to the memory card as the phone memory is really really diabolical also for your SDcard stick to 2 gig the new 4 gigs are way too slow at the moment to be of any good to any one
Guest Dumela Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Hi Thanks for the pointers. Phone arrived this morning, so pulled a sickie to give me some space to play.... ;-) Will try all of the above. Have progressed through the SPV range over the years but first impressions on this one are good. Clear, fast and easy to follow. Thanks again people
