Guest drutort Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) this is strange  i guess it shows tffs/external to have a 3mb partition and a 45mb partition both unkown formats then the tffs1 /external storage shows 8mb fat healthy one which i can access with nothing on it :P finally tffs2 shows the rest of the rom 172 mb fat healthy it is in folder name "__TFAT_HIDDEN_ROOT_DIR__" my PocketPC is gigabyte gsmart i300 with 64mb ram and 256mb rom system shows 171.98mb storage program 45.34 mb the first i can guess that is the system stuff and ram, the 2nd one im clueless a 8mb fat last one is the storage, my other question is can i defrag or format that or thats a no no? maybe not format but defrag? seems the system is fat with 4k clusters, with all the windows and programs now which one would be the miniSD card? since i had a bad sd card it doesnt work in the device nor windows i couldnt really test that... does this program give you access to the miniSD on the computer? or it is disabled completly? im waiting to get my topram 2gb miniSD replaced :D Edited May 1, 2007 by drutort
Guest benetton Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I tried this on My HTC s710 with wm6, has the exact same problem as the s620(dash), works, then freezes the phone, had to remove the battery and reboot
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I will soon make a new version, maybe it will fix that "hang on deactivate" problem. If I understood it correctly.

Thanks Ingvarr! Hope the bug of failure during writing of a batch of large files and defragment can be fixed. Well, the bug might have some link with the "hang on deactivate" problem.

Well, the bug might have some link with the "hang on deactivate" problem. No, this is the separate problem. In fact thats why I haven't released a new version yet. There are some (minor for me) instability, its quite irregular and I am still trying to understand the root of the problem and see if it indeed can be solved.
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 (edited) Attached to this post - is a rc5 (release candidate) test of the next version 1.74. If no new problems will be reported, it will be made into release Changelog: - Many changes to the driver to allow for more invisible error recovery. Can possibly help with read/write instabilities on some devices. Also can help with preventing the complete freezes in case of USB/flash memory errors. - Added the quick "blink" indication when choosing the LEDs/vibrators - Improved the checking for "system" storages. Will try to more intelligently choose the storage card device as default right after install. Can help on devices where "DSK1:" is infact an internal storage, and the storage card is for example "DSK3:". - More compatible re-mount mechanism. Possibly can help with "Hang on deactivate" issue. If you wish to, try it on your device and see if it will change for the better/worse. Dont forget to mention your device, mobile OS version and host PC OS version. Release Candidates already have debugging & logging code disabled for maximum performance.WM5torage_174RC5.CAB Edited May 31, 2007 by Ingvarr
Guest eaglesteve Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Heard so much good things about WM5torage, but strangely I'm having real struggle in this.  Appreciate help from you guys in anwering these questions: 1)  I can't remember the source, but I downloaded an earlier version of WM5torage consisting only one file. Installation was simple.  However, on this this modaco website, when I download the files, I got six files there and I don't know how to install it. How do you guys install this into your PPC phone? I tried clicking on it on my desktop as well as copying the 6 files into a PPC directory then click them on my PPC but had no success. 2) Once you've installed it, do you connect the USB(which will cause AS to synchronize) first before clickiing WM5torage program, or do you click first then connect? 3) If the answer to 2 is to click first then connect, then within the WM5torage screen do you activate first before connecting the USB or do you connect the USB first before activating? 4) What do you fill in the other fields?     - Do you tick read only or leave it blank?    - Do you tick removable class or leave it blank?    - Which item do you select in the first pull down box?    - what do you choose in the Led/Vibrator Read and Write pull down box? 5) Are you supposed to disable all today's plugins before starting the WM5torage program? 6) Must you remove all programs in the StartUp directory in the PPC? 7) Is a soft reset a must before using the program? That's all I need to know I guess.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 1) You should get a single cab file. If it got expanded on the download, you must've set association of cab files with some unpacker (winrar for example). Don't try to open the wm5torage.cab you've downloaded - just copy it to your device an run there. 2) In ideal case, you can do it either way. Hovewer, some devices dont work both ways, it can depend on device and firmware. 3) Same as 2 4) You fill the fields according to your needs. For example, you click read only, if you want to disable write access to disk (virus-preventive measure). All these fields described in the program description. 5) Only if they are installed to storage card you export, or hold open files on storage card. This can prevent direct access to the card and wm5torage will not be able to activate. If plugins are all in main memory and dont lock the card, it should work fine with them. 6) Same as 5. 7) This is device/firmware dependent. wm5torage do not work equally well on all devices. On some it does not work at all. On some, it will require periodic soft-resets. For the best answer you should ask people who use the same device and firmware as you do.

Silly of me to have split it on PC before porting over this time.  I did it correctly with an older version of wm5torage. The reason it did not work the last time, I think was because I was using the older version, which looks different from the current one.  I think it was version 1.2 if I remember right.  After going round and round the circle, this is finally working.  It's a fantastic software.  Thank you for this.
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Hi all, just to confirm this works on the Virgin Lobster AKA HTC Monet Many thanks Ingvarr
Guest j8888h Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Ok, here is a beta2 test of the next version 1.74 http://rapidshare.com/files/29588884/WM5torage_BETA.CAB.htm Changelog: ... Thanks Ingvarr for the new beta update. However, it cannot work for my PPC T-Mobile MDA (WM6 10.1.0.811 CHS). The PC (Windows XP SP2 CHS) gave an error code (10) when it tried to install the driver. The version 1.73 works fine. Even WM5torage.exe (1.74Beta) + WM5torage.dll (1.73) can work fine, but 1.74 dll + 1.73 exe failed. Attachment is the log file.wm5drvlog.txt
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Ok, just've made some changes, uploaded a beta3 (link in original beta post). Edited May 7, 2007 by Ingvarr
Guest j8888h Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Ok, just've made some changes, uploaded a beta3 (link in original beta post). The 1.74 Beta3 still cannot get work. The attachment is the log file.wm5drvlog.txt
Guest j8888h Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 The 1.74 Beta3 still cannot get work. The attachment is the log file. I get very interesting results with beta 3. When I set the debugzone key to ffff, the beta 3 gets work. But after I set the key back to 7, it stoped work again. I tryed the key at 0, 100, and fff as well. 0 and 100 cannot work, but fff can get work as well. However when I set to ffff and fff, the log file grows very fast!WM5torage_log.rar
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Ok, I get it. Will try to figure out what is wrong there... 7 is the normal setting you should leave it on most of the time. Edited May 7, 2007 by Ingvarr

Guest j8888h Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 15 makes it work, but the log file still grows rapidly. I'd go sleep, hope it fixes after I open eyes again. Thx Ingvarr!

Guest j8888h Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Good, we are making a progress here. I've just have found and fixed a BAD bug  Not sure if is it, but hope so. Beta4 is uploaded, try it. The installation pack of BETA 4 made the PPC freezen. After reset it installed successfully. But I get the same result as that of BETA 3. only f in debugzone can make it connect.WM5torage_log.rar
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) Thanks. More multithreading fixes are done to the driver. Beta5 is uploaded. j8888h, if you wont be able to connect, please still give me logs both for 7 and ffff zones. Edited May 8, 2007 by Ingvarr
Guest Ingvarr Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 I am confused. does this program now work Cingular 8525? Just wondering? No idea - I have no such device to check. Thats what is the purpose of the beta test - to let people test it on their devices and give me feedback before it will be released.

Ok, has anyone reported that it works on the hermes, tytn, 8525 device?
Guest j8888h Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Thanks. More multithreading fixes are done to the driver. Beta5 is uploaded. j8888h, if you wont be able to connect, please still give me logs both for 7 and ffff zones. The BETA5 can get connection with 7 zone, but the rate is very slow. Copy of a fold with 60 files of total 1.6 Mbytes costed more than 30 min. I cannot get the removable disk with ffff zone, but the device manager of PC reported the driver has no problem. And the Windows explorer of PC side shows a flash connection while I press the right soft button of the PPC to inactive the WM5torage.WM5torage_log.rar
