XM Radio Online Streaming... Is this possible?

I have an account with XM that lets me listen to XM Radio Online. I also have an unlimited Data Plan with ATT. Is there any way that I could use my XM Radio Online though the BlackJack II without having to use the XM Radio Mobile version that comes with the phone. I already pay a crap load of money per year plan with XM and refuse to pay another $9.00 per month. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe try this?

Post if it works, I don't have an account to try it out...

YOU ARE THE Fn MAN!!!

It worked perfectly Thank You!!!

After you login and try to launch for the first time you get a Not Enough Memory Error(Not sure why) but then when I tried again it launched the Media Player on the Channel I chose and after a bit of Buffering BAM!!! I had XM Streaming to my phone. You should update this on your LostSoul's Thread of Tips.

Speaking of memory... is there a way to allocate more memory from the Phone or MicroSD to the IE so it can cache more? I have a 4Gig MicroSD... :)

I thought that if you already have a XM account that you don't have to pay extra for XM mobile. It's ridiculous if you do.

I am in the same boat as you. I have tried to listen to xm radio online in the browser of my bj II as I would on my computer. But somehow AT&T is blocking or scrambling the xm radio online website. I cant get it to come up on my phone.

I'm not sure of the integrity of this site since it is not affiliated with XM Radio. It does request for your email and (I think) your XM Radio password. Personally, I'm not comfortable with providing my XM Radio Password to a non-XM-affiliated website. I guess we should put a disclaimer of: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK????

Just my 2 cents.

I'd call it legitimate. Google the domain before accusing a site of being illegitimate. If you can't find anything there, bring it into question. Don't discourage people without having investigated yourself.

I never directly said that it was illegitimate. I just said I feel uncomfortable providing my XM password on a site that is not XM affiliated (read the fine print on their web page). Isn't the purpose of these forums is to provide tips and feedback on mods to our phones so people can decide whether or not they want to install that specific mod? Again, people have different acceptance levels of risk.

BUT to your point, I'll investigate this site more when I have the chance since it is an attractive feature and I am an XM subscriber. Bygones. :D

Lost Soul,

I did a quick check on this. It seems like this should be safe. Since this stems from XM411.com, this makes me more comfortable.

In addition, the password that you use to listen on XM Online can be different from the one that you use to manage your account. The only things that can be changed on your XM Online account settings are your password to login to listen online and your radio part number. Pretty minimal damage if someone were to login as you.

Thus, I will be trying this out.

Thanks, Lost Soul, for nudging me to investigate this a little further in order to make this forum that much better.... and our phones that much better. :(

I can understand you might feel uncomfortable with that, and it makes sense, but I just ask that you do your research before posting something that might discourage users from using something if you don't have all the facts.

But it looks like you understand what I meant, so I thank you for taking my advice and for providing us with more details on the security of your account when using this application.

Just some feedback after using this for a short while.

This works great even on EDGE. HOWEVER......

If you're going to use this application, just be aware that this will drain your battery in no time since it is seems to stream data constantly (IE is always refreshing on the XStreamXM page while music is playing - but at 0 bytes). :D I haven't gauged it with the battery meter (which in my opinion is useless with the 90% issue still open) during my use, but after using my phone in EDGE mode (activesync email auto-synching throughout the day every 10 minutes, checking emails, phone calls of about 30 minutes total, farting around with the LEDalert application that I'm trialing) and listening to XM via the XStreamXM application for approximately 30-45 minutes, my battery was close to dead at the end of the day (10:40pm).

Just be sure to keep a charger / adapter closeby.

Can anyone else report on their experience with their battery life after running this app?

BTW, I found a discussion on Howard's and also Modaco that will let you create a playlist in WMP so you don't have to go through IE. Very simple and plays much faster.

Click here to get to Modaco:

Click Here to get to the Howard:

After you do the edits and transfer the ASX file onto your handset, update your Library in WMP. Goto My Playlists and you see the playlist there: "XM Satellite Radio (High)_Template".

The only problem is that the channel number don't show up, but minor detail.

UPDATE:

When you edit the ASX file, you can add the channel numbers yourself. Simple fix, but a little time consuming. I'll see if I can find out how to get the latest ASX files with updated stations since some of the stations seemed out of date.

Relax man........if you look at the times of your post and mine you will see that they are minutes apart. I was probably typing mine when you posted yours. As far as the first post in this thread, the author must have edited your info into it, because it wasnt there when I read the thread and made my post, okay.

Don't read too far into things, I thought I was pretty calm.

But sorry if I offended you, and yes, the author did edit that later.
