Hi all,

Just got an Omnia, I like it alot but........ The conversations instead of just messaging is doing my head in.. Is there a way of just having "normal" text messaging?

I have HH3 firmware (debraded from voda)

Threaded sms (or conversations as you called them) can be turned off using a registry editor and using this "hack" to modify.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable

Change dword value from 1 to 0 and you're done

i tried to disable the threaded sms thingy, however, there won't be notification tone upon new sms

Use a registry editor and follow it through just like folders in a file explorer.

I use total commander: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm, but have heard this is good too: http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/.

Both freeware.

Plenty of others around though. Try this link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...0Editor%20Bible and decide for yourself whats best for you

where do i use that hack?

i already instaled that and i can use it in my mobile.

i just don't know where do i use that hack.

can you teach me step by step please?it's my first pocket pc, i never used this, i'm confused!

The registry entry you need to revert to 'normal' SMS inbox is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled

dword=00000001

The Key OEM needs to be created.

From my experience changing SMSAvailable to a value of 0 does just what you would expect, that is it disables SMS, well sending them anyway, they appear to be sent, but don't actually transmit.

The attached Cab will create the registry entry for you, just copy it to any folder your device, find it in the file explorer, click on it to run it, (it can be deleted afterwards,) then power off (fully) & restart & the settings will have been applied.

DisableSMSThreading.cab

it's working perfectly...if i want to revert what should i do?

Set the value of the DWORD to 0 instead of 1. Of course, if you used the CAB file, then you'd need somebody else to create another CAB file for you to change the setting back ;)

This mod actually took care of 2 things for me:

1. I DO NOT like the Threading in SMS, and

2. It allowed me to see what i was typing without having to apply another mod (vito chat-sms app).

FYI: There was a couple error messages that popped up when I restarted (could not start tskscheduler.exe and nostop.exe) but after a second restart they did not pop up again.
