Guest evil Homer 3k Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Okay, had my Omnia for about a month now. At first I thought I could put up with the stylus swinging around next to it, but now its becoming a hinderance. I've pretty much got it setup now so I don't need to use the stylus for setting changes etc. What do other people do? Leave it off, leave it on. Keep it in their wallet/purse (delete as appropriate)
Guest PuijkeN Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I don't have it attached, once the phone is configured I don't use it anymore.. I keep it with me tough, in my jacket or something.. just in case

Guest mobilehappy Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Do not have it attached and do not need it  Have mapped on of the hardware buttons as a on/off switch for the finger mouse though.
Guest pp56825 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 For daily usage stylus in not needed, only for phone maintenance and non finger friendly applications. i'm using manilla 2D + icontact + powersms
Guest Compuse Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I need it just to reset my phone .. the only reason i keep is there SPS shells with Winterface and samsung's today1 work like a charm leaving the stylus at home.. But since it keeps on crashing occasionally .. I need to bring my stylus (yea ain't it hideous) along
Guest Mig-L - Bell Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I keep it in my key chain... Just use for reset's... But since it's hasen't crashed for 2 week now, the stylus is just for decoration...

Guest meddleuk Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 How do you map a hardware to Finger mouse, I can't see it as an option when setting the hardware keys.

Just unzip the program and put it in the Programs folder and go to the bottons menu and there it is... CheerschgFingerMouse.zip

But since it keeps on crashing occasionally .. I need to bring my stylus (yea ain't it hideous) along you must be running out of RAM dude. try using a ram freeing app like oxios. if you do that, you don't need to soft reset your device. my omnia can go on for a week without soft reset. oh, btw, like everyone else, after a full app setup, you don't need the stylus. Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Never use it, gave it to my other half to use on her Viewty since the supplied one broke. On my desk I have a graphical tablet and use the pen for that if needed, otherwise ... just my finger.
Guest robertut Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 I attached it at the beginning. When the phone rang, I suddenly picked up the phone from the table and quicky put it to my ear. The hanging stylus hit my head pretty badly. I think it's a bit dangerous for everyday use
Guest Gemmac Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Hi Homer, I have a lifeventure pouch, I removed the clip so it's not so bulky, and I have tied the stylus to the pouch zip. I only keep it in there when I'm on the move but it's never out my pocket and so stylus always available if needed
Guest rodrigorajao Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Don't use it, partly because I can't store it inside the phone, partly because it looks sooooooo gay!!!!!!!!! In the beginning I carried it with me on my keychain just in case. As time went by I noticed I didn't need it at all. I use mostly my finger and the mouse pointer (wonderful invention, reminds me of my old iPaqs). I just use the tip of a mechanical pencil to reset it.

But since it's hasen't crashed for 2 week now, the stylus is just for decoration... :D actually you can have a keychain (with a tip) or a paper clip in your wallet to soft reset. if not, you can always remove the cover and take out the battery

Guest smalley83 Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Stylus? What stylus? I lost mine a week ago, dont know where, don't know when!. I do care 'cos I was just getting the hang of the transcriber. If you haven't tried it yet give it a go, it's rather good.
Guest Massive Attack Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 putting the omnia in a jeans pocket together with the stylus is dangerous to the screen. so i dont attach it.
Guest bagann Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 For daily usage stylus in not needed, only for phone maintenance and non finger friendly applications. i'm using manilla 2D + icontact + powersms so what other software are you guys using to make your omnia completely finger friendly?
Guest MaxSound Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 so what other software are you guys using to make your omnia completely finger friendly? .) Shell: SPB-Shell, has nearly all features finger friendly, very nice Contact-Management, good Task-Manager (have it on the upper button) .) Video + Music Player: Core Player, plays really everything, does not need playlists, file-select ist a little bit tricky, maybe in a new version more finger friendly .) File-Operation: Resco File Explorer, perfect features .) PDF: Foxit-Reader, 1000 times better than the adobe-crap, displays nearly every pdf, freeware .) Screen-Rotate: manual on lower button. .) Flashlight: hold lower volume button or use Samsung Widget 2 as additional hardware I recommend the Motorola S9 BT cableless headset, together with core-player I am still in need for: .) a real fingerfriendly fullscreen transparent keyboard, should be invented .) Samsung-Keypad-Configurator .) a programm to en-/disable bluetooth quickly via link in SPB-Shell .) incomming configurable voice announcement like on my good old Nokia N95 (MS Voicecommand is a crap!, Vito Voice2go works only for recorded contacts, not for normal numbers and only at beginn of call) .) a tweak that sets ringtone-volume at the beginning of a call to 100 % (not the hardcoded low initial volume) .) a better message interface (sms, mail) than the microsoft built in .) a mobile ms network client to create shares on the omnia - I´d like to copy files to/from my omnia over wlan with my PC as interface (other direction works)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Aside from the initial setup (calibration), I never use it! P
Guest gavinfabl Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 As Paul above, but doubles up as a nose picker lol...
Guest Yunabeco Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 a programm to en-/disable bluetooth quickly via link in SPB-Shell I'm not sure if that helps, but if you have the SPB Mobile Shell skins at imarche.net/omnia installed, after soft-reset the statuses of the three connections are displayed on the pseudo-taskbar inside the shell. Touching them brings up a menu to activate or deactivate them. Also, is it possible to map a button to switch the Rotate Screen mode?

I also really need a a real fingerfriendly fullscreen transparent keyboard. 2. Agree with the ringtone tweak. 3. Have you tried SMS-Chat, its a lot more finger friendly but its only for sms. 4. Resco File Explorer have network sharing, you could browse your pc and copy files but not the other way. Im also looking for a better task switcher, i used the default one but i want to be able to close the programs as well. Bit like experia, not bothered about fancy animations or anything though.
