Guest jonboyuk Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I have TomTom 7.910(9815) now installed on my Omnia. Unforutnately this does not fix the GPS issue B) Just thought I'd report. It does however fill the screen properly whilst using it without the small gap at the bottom of the map screen. Pooh!
Guest herojas Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I have the same Tomtom in my omnia and it works perfectly. In that version I don't need to use the GPSGate. The new Tomtom allow you to select the COM2. If you want I can write my omnia configuration, It should be enought for yours. -----Omnia Configuration----- Settings\Hardware\External GPS *GPS program port: COM2 *GPS hardware port: COM9 - Baud Rate: 9600 *Manage GPS automatically: YES ------Tomtom Configuration----- *GPS NMEA *Baud rate 4800 *COM2 IMPORTANT When you make all the steps you have to see in the Satellites top/right windows of the tomtom a little Yellow/Black ball rolling, that means the GPS is working. You only have to wait to your Omnia GPS find the signal. -> You can download an XTRA GPS DATA to improve the finding speed of the GPS, personally I can not see the diference between NO XTRA DATA and XTRA DATA. Settings\Hardware\Enchanced GPS *Enable XTRA DATA CONNECTION *Disable automatically download. *Press download button With that configuration in my omnia I don't have any problem with Tomtom. Good Luck
Guest Hendrickson Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Does it work every time. After closing it then using it a day later or even after a reset?
Guest gravityz Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 the first thing i tried with this version still no succes i think we will have to wait for version 8 maybee this one has external gps driver support like in version 5 Does it work every time. After closing it then using it a day later or even after a reset?
Guest jonboyuk Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I really don't get it. It works on some - but not others. What exact version are you using and build herojas - AND what map? Also, what folders for TomTom do you have on your storage card? Do you have things like ITN, VOICES etc? Thanks, Jon
Guest Sylar30 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I have v6 navigator running now, finally but I had to use gpsgate. I had to connect to gprs though in order to get a signal fix. Dont know why.
Guest psypher Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 in regards to herojas instructions, nothing worked on mine except com3 (in replace com2) which is very odd! I followed diff instructions which said use com7, then tried every COM untill number 3 seemed to work. Also I left baud as 4800 on everything. only other thing is as im not connected via gprs/3g, is download the XTRA content via wifi and it was synced to my pc at the time so im not sure if it did it throguh my pc or wifi. I was using 7.450 (9028) with uk and ROI map.
Guest whitfa Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I read somewhere that for non-carrier/unlocked phones aGPS might actually take longer than just using GPS. Which has the OP, carrier or non-carrier / assisted or non-assisted GPS?
Guest raza1 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 (edited) I have a original vodafone rom i900 XKHG5/ARHG5 TT version 7.450.9028_repack 2 I also use com3 and bautrate 4800 (I think the omnia is not capable of using more than 4800, but it doesn't matter when you choose for 9600 though) Recently discovered I don't need GPSProxy. I have a fix now in 10 seconds (after the first one what took about 3 minutes) Edited December 30, 2008 by raza1
Guest sam1982 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I have the same problem " waiting for a valid GPS signal" now for 2 days. Settings are as follows TT7 version 7.910 (9185) GPS driver v1.20 com3 baud 4800 Other NMEA GPS reciever Did alot of reading on online forums and i dont think there is a fix for this as yet. Just wanted to share this also with you. You are not alone. Hoping for a fix soon. Although i believe Garmin is way better then TOMTOM
Guest gravityz Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 try igo8 i have always used tomtom but with the omnia i switched to igo8 i takes time to get used to it but once you get used you understand that it is way bettter than tomtom sure tomtom has other features but if you do not use them igo8 is a better product navteq cards are better up to date cards look better and more realistic screen is faster works with internal gps very fast fix when you do the gps registry hack trust me i have tried it and it works way better. look for either the 64029 official version or the 64378 version you need a version specially made for the omia i have tried other versions but then you indeed hate the product and uninstall it immediately I have the same problem " waiting for a valid GPS signal" now for 2 days. Guest krash_control Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Hi Sorry for bring back an old thread, but I just wanted to say thanks to Herojas. Neither TomTom or garmin could see any satelites until I followed his suggestion. I am using Khuanchai's 6.5 lite ROM 21812.
Guest jonboyuk Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Thanks! I ended up buying CoPilot 7 HD which is much much better :D

Guest kako78 Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Hi Sorry for bring back an old thread, but I just wanted to say thanks to Herojas. Neither TomTom or garmin could see any satelites until I followed his suggestion. I am using Khuanchai's 6.5 lite ROM 21812. I confirm. It works fine as well for me. And I have been searching for a solution for weeks and weeks. Only one little issue remaining: some garbage on the screen when I switch for a screen to the main screen. Garbage is below the map, just between the map and the controls area (where speed, remaining distance etc are displayed)... Anyone has a fix for this ? Thanks Kako

Guest gtr73 Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Nah, I gave up on TomTom. Installed iGO8 instead. PortSplitter, although it got TomTom working kinda OK with the GPS, the program is ridiculously thirsty on power. iGO8 just simply works. Has an uncomplicated interface and achieves GPS lock quickly, on average in 30 seconds - no tweaks, no Registry messing, no extra software. Just works. So I'm happy for it to do the job for me. :D Unlike TomTom ver7, which was just too painful - and is it really worth it?? Here in Australia there's just two map providers (Nokia Maps and Telstra WhereIs), so no huge advantage either way if I have TomTom. So my opinion (if your in Australia at least): save the hassle and don't worry about TomTom on your Omnia.
