yes they are  open the shortcut with notpad and you'll understand... Will try to post my latest job this night or tomorow :P

EDIt : here's what I have done

I use only 2 submenu : Games And Office Mobile

presentationpack2eg8.gif

To have this you need to :

1) unzip the zip where you want

2) copy CustomLinkIcons.lnk to \My Documents\ on the SPV

3) import UpdateSomeWM6Icon.reg on the SPV with a registry editor (I use Resco)

4) copy (replace if necessary) all the subfolder \Start Menu from my zip to your \Windows\Start Menu folder in the SPV

5) delete icon.lnk in your \Window\Start Menu\Games folder in the SPV

Please don't ask me for a cab, I don't have the time and it takes 5 minutes to do the job manually

Method is quite simple actually...

Go to: http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/

This program removes the security on your Orange smartphone.

Fill in all the necessary info. An e-mail will be sent to you with a .CAB file attached. Follow the directions in the email.

Reboot your smartphone (by turning it OFF and back ON)

Use the same link to get a CAB-file to turn the security back on.

Ok, now the application lock on your phone is removed.

Now you can change most icons in the menus on your phone. Some icons can't be changed… YET. Like "Call History", etc… these are branded with beautiful icons by that impressive graphics team of Orange… yep, being sarcastic.

After re-booting your smartphone, you can use ActiveSync's explorer to replace most of the icons with the ones mentioned in an earlier post by jpa (WM6 icons). Icons in your start menu are located at: Windows\Start Menu.

Simply copy and paste the icons. This replaces most icons by the WM6 ones. Some are located in sub-folders. Find the folder which contains the icon you want to replace, copy the new one to your phone, and replace it.

Paul (MVP) mentioned he'll be working on a de-brander for the e650 as soon as he gets his hands on an e650... http://www.modaco.com/Pauland39s-HTC-S710-...02-t254418.html

Like the rest of you… am waiting impatiently.

Oh… hi everyone… yep, this is my first post.

Let me know if it works or if I overlooked something or… hope this was helpful.

Thanks very much. A first post question answered by a first post answer. Nice!

Hi all from me too. Been here since 2004 and never posted until now.

DuNcAn, I had already done everything you mentioned but it was actually changing the .ink files from read only that I was having the trouble with. I tried Resco explorer and the e650 explorer but neither would let me do it. Since my e650 was now app unlocked I ended up installing an old copy of Smart Explorer and that allowed me to change the .ink properies easily. Probably me just being daft with Resco but it's a workaround. Noonsy why don't you give it a try.

I'm just going to sit down now and change each icon.

Big Thanks to Paul and everyone else. I've learned a lot from this site since buying my first SPV.

Ok, don't shoot the messenger!

Did anyone take a look at this?:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...956#post1299956

i.o.w.

Did anyone try this ROM update?:

http://www.dopodasia.com/download/RUU_Vox_....83.90_Ship.exe

If so... care to post your findings?

It looks like the Dopod C500 ROM.

I won't try it until I have an official Orange ROM to fall back to if things all goes t*ts up

You can never be too careful

Iv downloaded this and I already have my phone app unlocked so didnt need to use the reg editor (i think, correct me if im wrong) I have changed all the icons but a lot of them come up with generic symbols , and the call history picture is a very crappy res internet phone type picture. The settings is a blank window and when highlighted its a pen and paper, which is the same as pictures and videos and calendar and the quick notes icon is just a folder picture, all the links work but seem to display random images, any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Ignore all this, seem to have solved it now being a n00b sorry

Most of the WM6 icons are located either in the EXE-file of the program itself or are located in shellres.dll.

The Orange SPV e650 shortcuts call the initial program but make use of the Orange icons. Most of these icons sit in a file called oemicons.dll. In the registry you'll find entries referring to these Windows 98-style Orange icons <_<

Let's take a look at the Call History shortcut: 21#:MSClog?:clogapp

clogapp is a registry key and is divided in DefaultIcon and SelectIcon. Here you'll see the referrer to the oemicons.dll. By changing these registry entries you can change the actual displayed icon in your Start Menu. All you need to know is where the correct icon sits in the shellres.dll.

Well...

8308 is the number of the unselected Call History icon in shellres.dll's Icon Group. Thus... change the data value from the oemicons.dll referrer to:

shellres.dll,-8308

and for the SelectIcon:

shellres.dll,-8309

You can do this with ANY shortcut in the Start Menu including folders! When making changes to your Windows Mobile Registry... needless to say... you're doing this at your own risk.

Orange didn't only brand the shortcuts... oh no... if only Orange made our life THAT easy. The tiny icons displayed in the Call History when viewing the list... you get the idea.

The dopod rom does work perfectly only when first installed its a pain with the network settings as its only for asia networks , everything runs ok fully app unlocked it and moved some of the shortcuts to folders like the orange one had as the dopod one is messy with everything in the start menu, but a bit of time spent is worth the hassle , when the htc s710 rom update is out i will upgrade to that one  but if the orange look is noit for you then its a good option for now.
