Guest jasthegooner Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Im looking for a caller id app that works on c500. I have some excellent pics of friends etc that I would like to see full screen when they ring me. Can anyone recommend an app? The C500 has the upgrade on it. Thanks
Guest smittyofdhs Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 the c500 comes with caller id software. This was the old IA Style software that HTC purchased. The only other good one is called Photo Contacts and it provides a full screen image. You can find it at Handango.com
Guest Ironman273 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I tried Photo Contacts but it was conflicting with the original photo ID software so I uninstalled it. Now the link to the original photo ID software is gone! How can I get it back?

ThanksAs smittyofdhs says the C500 has a caller id prog built in, look in the Orange folder on your start menue for 'Caller Photo ID'. Attached is a zip file containing another file called Fullscreen.pit - if you extract this on your PC and place the PIT file in StorageMy DocumentsIA Caller ID Photos then you'll be able to to set full screen photos in the caller id app. I tried Photo Contacts but it was conflicting with the original photo ID software so I uninstalled it. Now the link to the original photo ID software is gone! How can I get it back? Sounds like you've lost the startup file. Download the attached IA_CID_StartUp.zip, unzip on your PC and then copy the file to StorageWindowsStartup - restart your phone and the IA Caller ID app should work again.IA_CID_StartUp.zipFull Screen.zip
Guest crafty Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Oh and welcome to the site both of you ^_^
Guest Ironman273 Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Oh and welcome to the site both of you :D Thanks for the welcome and the help! Just got my phone yesterday, so I'm not going on much sleep today ^_^ I gotta wait to get home to try it though... :P Edit: OK, forget about getting home. I'll just IR it. When I downloaded the file and tried to copy it over, I already had that file in my startup folder. However, I don't have the icon for it in my "start menu". As you can tell, I'm still a newbie with all of this, so forgive any stupid qurestions. Could it be that I just lost the icon in the start menu?
Guest smittyofdhs Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 you may have lost it. On the SMT5600, ATTWS marked the shortcuts as system files so it's impossible to delete the shortcut. As for the conflict of the 2 apps, that's because you didn't shut off the built-in caller id app. to do so, go into the app, goto options and general, then uncheck the last box.

OK, here's what I have. If I browse the phone with File Explorer from within the phone I get 2 .lnk files in the Startup folder. If I browse it using ActiveSync, I have various files, one being the one that I'm trying to copy over. Is there anything I can do to "reinstall" it? As for the conflict, you're right, since the conflict was that both caller IDs were flickering between each other. I can't go turn it off because I can't start the IA CID program. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: BTW, I have the Audiovox SMT 5600 with AT&T
Guest hawpunch Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 ironman, if you haven't figured it out yet, here's what you do in order to open the ia caller id program after installing another photo id program. get a file explorer program like smart explorer and open up the windows directory. search for a file called IA_Photo_Contacts.exe and press on that. that should open up the native photo id program. then hit menu, select general options and then unmark the box that says display photo during call. that should help you and you should be able to use photo contacts after a reboot. aloha, jae park
Guest smittyofdhs Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 recreate the shortcut... using a file manager ( the smt5600 came with ne, so the c500 probbly did too) and b rowse to windowsIA_Photo_Contacts.exe. That will at least get you into the program...
Guest Confucious Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Crafty - you didn't explain to us thickos that thgis is a template  Just tried it and it works - Thanks, now all I've got to do is go back and change all the photos I've already assigned  Very neat, very useful - why wasn't this one of the options already provided? Thanks again.
Guest Ironman273 Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 OK, so I browsed my phone and changed the File Explorer settings to view hidden and system files. Like this, I found the IA_Photo_Contacts.exe and the accompanying link file. However, when I click on it, it does nothing. I can't replace it, because it says it's protected. Should I just try to do a hard reset? I just go the phone yesterday, so it's not like I'd be missing much...
Guest Confucious Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 If you've not done much to the phone then a hard reset is probably the easiest option. Go for it! Good luck
Guest crafty Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 welcome for the photo template - took about 2 seconds to make and works a treat  - I just hate the standard caller id templates. I've also got one that is transparent except for a photo in the bottom left, i.e you see the standard incoming call screen but also a photo, can post it if anyone wants it. Tip ironman - if you've installed all your progs to your Memory Card, then save a copy of your start menu folder (storageWindowsStart Menu) to your PC and then after hard resteeing you can just overwrite your old one and things are good to go.
Guest NIGHTMARE Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I would like a copy of that caller id pid file if poss, please could you post it for me?
Guest crafty Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Here ya go, plus i've also included a version of the one i did for my Gant theme, but with a white background to go over the standard incoming call screen. EnjoyCaller ID Templates.zipGant Phone.gif
Guest jasthegooner Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 Crafty thanks for your help on this especially the Fullscreen.pit that has done the trick by the looks of it.
