Guest jcreedy Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 I have put all my contacts birthdays into my SPV E100 by connecting the PC to the phone and using Outlook. On the birthdays, I asked the phone to remind me 1 Day before each event but I've now missed 2 important birthdays because the phone didn't make a peep. I'm losing friends fast! :) I have made sure all the reminders are correct but wondered what I am doing wrong. I've also tried putting 'show time as:' both 'busy' and 'free' and neither give me a warning of a birthday. Help is appreciated as the manual for this phone is terrible. Many thanks.
Guest salavat Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 Just a thought - check you profile settings, maybe you have set the alarm and/or notification sounds to low?
Guest Cabana Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 How do you make the phone remind you about birthdays?
Guest Zion800 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I'm having the same issue. I've come to the understanding that WM5 doesn't alert you of birthdays set in contacts. Anyone know if this is true?
Guest Twilight.Cruiser Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 I'm having the same issue. I've come to the understanding that WM5 doesn't alert you of birthdays set in contacts. Anyone know if this is true?Hi Zion800, yes, unfortunately this seems to be true! I also worried about that from the beginning, and by searching a solution I found that it seem to be that Microsoft just had 'forgotten' to implement that kind of 'internal' birthday synchronisation! So, as far as I know it from my smartphone, the contacts birthdays are never displayed in the calendar! The only way to get them into the calendar without an additional tool on the phone itself is to sync the calendar as well as the contacts with a destop PC Outlook; then Outlook will copy the birthdays into the calendar for you. I guess that is waht happened to you (or rather your phone) in the past. There are plenty (also free) tools for copying the contact birthdays into your calendar, but most of them are only for PPCs and won't work on smartphones. At least, after asking and looking around in different forums, searching at any imaginable mobile software download site, trying out many tools and 'googleing' for a solution again and agian, at least I've found a tool that seems to fit my needs! :) Papurys from SBSH Mobile Software is not for free, but looks pretty nice at first sight! It's called a management solution, including a more powerful calendar which is also capable of showing birthdays and anniversary days (taken from the phones contacts list)! Sure I have to find & try out all of its functionality next time, but I guess I won't be disappointed. There's aversion running on SmartPhones with WM5 (supporting also QVGA display resolution - and...: YEAH!! It really works!!!!) :) as well as a version for Symbian 60 based phones. Just take a look, maybe this will be also the right solution for your needs!? ;)
Guest conan_troutman Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 does the birthday show int the all day plug in on the home screen. if so you will get a reminder however.... as most birthdays are all day events having an alarm set to remind you one day in advance will have the alarm to go off at midnight the night before if you switch your phone off at night then you will not get the reminder i would set it for 18 hours before that way you get it during the day.
Guest genaldar Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 I added the birthdays to the contacts in Outlook and then added them to the Calendar using that. My reminders are set at 15 minutes so at 7:45 am the day of the birthday I get a reminder. The reminder stays on screen until I dismiss it. So you might want to add a fake birthday and a 15 minute reminder to test it out.
