Guest jholland Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 hi all, had my c500 a couple of months now... fantastic phone! one snag tho... im having trouble sending files (movies, pictures ringtones etc) via bluetooth. infact, i cant send anything at all! can anybody help me with this? orange cant help because they dont help with anything bluetooth related... thanks...
Guest jholland Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 also, i have sent files with a nokia tomy c500 and other phones no problem...
Guest jfran Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=55367>Smart Explorer is better than the native file manager when it comes to sending file via BT, however using the native filemanager, select the file you want to send (BT switched on) and you should see 2 options, IR Align and Searching ... the searching looks for BT enabled handsets and if one is found select that device and beam file HTH Rgds Jim
Guest jholland Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 thanks a lot jim, much appretiated.... i'll give that a try
Guest marksurry Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 thanks a lot jim, much appretiated.... i'll give that a try <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had trouble with sending and receiving files via bluetooth too. I activated "Receive incoming beams" under "Start", "Settings", "Beam". Make sure that tick box is ticked, sorted my problems out.
Guest smith_ts Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Sorry, but i think i must be stupid, stupid, stupid. I've tried the above suggestion but still cannot send files from my C500 to a 6600 via bluetooth. I'm going to 'File Manager' then send, then via infrared (option 2) but it simply states searching a does not find anyone!! Can anyone help please? Should i download 'smart explorer' instead? Is it compatible with the C500? Thanks Peg
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Should i download 'smart explorer' instead? Is it compatible with the C500? Thanks Peg <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. Make sure you get the latest release from Binarys' website
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I've tried sending ringtones to my P800 using the file manager, on my C500 but I only get to options, send via E-mail and send via Infrared? There is no Blue Tooth option. I can send stuff to my C500 from my P800 via BT ok but not the other way round?.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Use the IR option. It will look for BT devices too.

Guest Terry21uk Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Tried the IR setting bit, set to search but the phone just sits there, it won't find any other device. If (for example) I put BT on my P800 to on and set the C500 BT to on, the P800 sends via BT no probs. Trouble is it don't seem to work the other way round.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Could it just be the P800 cannot recieve the files? Otherwise use Smart Explorer from http//:www.binarys.com
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I doubt it as one of the ringtones I sent from to my C500 via BT, was sent from my P800 and that ringtone was sent to my P800 from my friends SE Z600 again, via BT.Does that make sense.LOL
Guest r0x0r Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I have the same problem with my c500. using the original file explorer, i select the file, Transfer -> IR and it goes to a menu where it searches for devices. When a device is found the menu disappears. I tried this with a 3200 from which I received some files. If someone has a work-around pls help :D It's very very annoying. Thank you.
Guest Killian Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Hey guys, i had the same problem. Just do what disco stu says and download 'Smart Explorer', i was told that for some reason the bt was taken off of oranges native file manager as they were worried of people sharing too many files, kind of stupid really but smart explorer does it perfect. Haven't had a problem with it yet and i have sent and recieved many 'educational' files :D
Guest r0x0r Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Using Smart Explorer i've sent some files from my C500 to another C500 :D Hope it works with other phones too ..
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 Thanks . Where do i get 'Smart Explorer' from and is it free?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 11, 2005 Report Posted January 11, 2005 http://www.binarys.com/ It's shareware, I believe, but worth paying a pittance at £5 to help the developers. :D

Guest jholland Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 ok, i tried everything that has been said, and it hasnt worked lol gonna give smart explorer a try, many thanks to everyone for your help!
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I downloaded the Smart Exploer cab file which i thought would self install, but winrar just opened 3 files. How do I get it on to the phone"?
Guest Killian Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 When you download the file, choose to save it on the desktop. Do not open it from location. Then when you look on the desktop you'll have a nice cab for installation. Just drag and drop it onto your phone, place it in storage>my documents and then use file manager to run it :D Hope that helps
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Killian. I tried downloading 'Smart Explorer' and saved it to the desktop, but all I get is the WinRar icon and I click on it and it unzips the 3 files. What am I doing wrong?.
Guest Confucious Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 (edited) You are trying to unzip it. It is a cab file which should just be copied to your phone wheer you can run it. Edited January 13, 2005 by Confucious
Guest Terry21uk Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I've now got bluetooth (sending) working on SPV C500 now, useing 'Smart Explorer' and it seems to be working ok. I just Sent a couple of ringtones to my P800 to try it out, it worked no problem, Thanks guys
