Hi, i dont think or cant find an answer to this. So i apoligise if this has be posted already.

Just bought a motorola mpx200 for carphone warehouse on o2, in the uk.

I have tried to place some unsigned apps on it, but they just come up with "this is not a valid windows ce app".

(pocketsnes and homeskins for example)

I know there is a sticky rearding unlocking a Orange motorola in the uk but it states if you are on another network you dont need to decert.

does anyone know how to get unsigned apps to run on O2 UK NETWORK

thanks in adv

You can still use the OTA Link. Click on the words OTA for instructions.

put the phone in the cradle then connect to the internet using the pc's internet connection

you may need to select automatic in data connections in the settings menu

o2 and motorola uk dont even know what im talking about, i asked them is there a way of unlocking the phone and the just say they dont know what im talking about. i state i can not put a new app on my phone and they act as if im speaking alien.

Has any body else bought a phone from Carphone warehouse on O2 lately (mines only two weeks old) and unlocked the phone to execpt new apps.

thanks squall for you help so far.

i cant understand why my imei isnt in the data base. do they stock all imei numbers or just orange...

like i said they have most imei's including phones sold abroad on different carriers.

you said it was sending the message, how did you get it to do that if your imei is not valid?

On the site it only asks for you mobile number, to send the sms.

it doenst ask for you imei to send the message. :D

er yes it does!

Name

email address

phone number +44797...

imei 446.............001

try entering all the info its asking for :D

(remember you are unlocking!)

sorry i dont mean that screen.

after i have sent all my info. it comes back with" sorry that imei does not appear on our database please try the follwing options"

so i click send sms to my phone by entering my mobile number.

i do.

they send a link.

i can not get to the link. prob cus of my crap o2 gprs.

another way is to send a file to your pc.

so i though i would email it as an attachment to my o2 account but it does not download attachments to the phone.........

how weak is that

You can opt for the Action Register application to be downloaded on your PC and not the phone.

You also have to make sure GPRS is enabled on your account before you can use it.

I did not realise carphonewarehouse was selling the MPX200 on O2

Thought I would look on their site and it's only slightly out of date :D

The MPX200 has an offer that expires 30th December 2003. Nice to see

an uptodate site

Bought one, found the 2003 os by googling for it.

is it locked to o2, nothing to stop me throwing my orange 3g sim in the phone and using some of my free 50mb gprs to decert it?

if you are asking if the mpx200 with 2003 is not sim locked by default the answer is no, you still need to unlock the phone using www.imei-check.co.uk

why do i need to use www.imei-check.co.uk ?

the phone is simfree bought from cpw with an o2 payg sim, and currently is quite happy on virgin mobile. it's not locked to any network.

There is a chance it will be locked to O2 but I have not heard many

reports about the O2 version to wether it is SIM locked or not.

To decert the phone though you do not need an Orange SIM as you can use passthrough.

As you have used the dodgy 2003 ROM the phone should be application unlocked already.

The cpw supplied mpx200 is not locked to any network. Yeah I upgraded to the 2003 os last night. Nice to hear i dont have to decert the phone.
