So, last night I was stood at the top of the stairs texting away, when my phone jumped out of my hands and bounced down the stairs like a psychotic slinky! I ran after it (as you do), picked it up, had a quick look at the casing and found no external damage, but it'd turned itself off. Pressed the power button, and a few seconds later the screen lit up (when I say lit up, I mean the backlight came on, but because of the large horizontal crack that’d appeared, it didn’t actually work properly).

Damn!

Took the phone to my room, stared at the huge crack and ‘funny pattern’ it’d made, and swore a lot.

The phone’s not insured, and I wouldn’t think this’d be covered under warranty, so I thought ‘f**k it’, and proceeded to take the phone apart – well, I managed to get all the screws out (and rip through the ‘VIOD’ sticker), but couldn’t work out how to get the casing off…

So, 2 questions;

Has anyone taken apart an SP3i? How do you do it!?

Like holr (and his thread), I’m now after a company/person that sells replacement parts. Anyone know of anywhere I might be able to purchase a new screen!?

If not, looks like I’m off to eBay to find a second hand phone :-(

...eBay it is then!

Expect to see a few things in the 'For Sale' forum soon (SP3i battery, charger, case, headphones, USB cable etc)...

Well, best of luck with it radiator. Sorry to hear you had such awful luck. My E200 survived many a drop (several times onto concrete!) but I dread the day my new MDA III slips out of my hand as I doubt it'd fare as well!

Sorry to hear that radiator :lol:

Do you have home insurance as it might be covered.

If not, what about imate ? I know that dropping the phone down the stairs might not be covered by the warranty but you could find out how much it would cost to fix. It could be cheaper than buying an alternative (second hand) phone.

I think the problem was that as it slipped out of my right hand, I quickly went to grab it with my left, missed (damn fingers not closing fast enough!), and ended up giving it more momentum!

I've emailed iMate, just waiting on a reply...
