Guest jklondon Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 so how can I get one of these. Just scancom is it? anyone tried ukphoneshop.com ? Are they in stock. Orange - Not in the next month apparently. 02 ? Cheers
Guest En_croute Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 scancom before 4pm, next day delivery £Free to £20, depending on new contract. Very happy customer
Guest GothTeddy Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Indeed, very happy with the service from scancom. The thread about it has more info than you can shake a wet stick at
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Got mine from www.phones2udirect.co.uk. While the service was hardly exceptional, they DID get it here in one piece and didnt cock up the contract either, so I would say they were okay to go with. Cheaper than Expansys as well.
Guest stu_lowe2003 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hi Service from scancom is excellent. I took the drive out to Leicester to go get it in person. Took 10 mins in the shop and then I walked away with it. Can't get over how great it is. Stu
Guest m80arm Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Anyone bought one SIM free?? Just recently signed a new contract with orange for an C500 but want one of these now? Anyone know the best place to buy a SIM free and what's it like on the orange network? Thanks Michael
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Bought mine SIM-free from the MoDaCo Shop, popped in my Orange C500 SIM and was away. Signal strength hasn't dropped below maximum yet although we've yet to go for a train ride..

Signal strength hasn't dropped below maximum yet although we've yet to go for a train ride.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When I try to visit the shop I get "Permission denied" - Do you have to be a fully paid member to even vie the shop?? Just wanna see what price I will be paying from MoDaCo Thanks Michael
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Strange - I've just got in : http://www.smesolutions.co.uk/modaco/shop.htm It's not a problem with your browser ? Pop-up blocker ? No-buying-stuff-in-office-time policy ? It'll cost you a little over £400 including P&P and top class service !
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I hope the ukphoneshop are decent as I just ordered my Compact after MUCHAS deliberation! No cash upfront, twelve month contract, six months half price line rental on Relax 200 plus free text for a few months. Sounds just TOO good to be true, but they assure me they have plenty of stock in and it will be dispatched tomorrow for arrival Friday. Fingers crossed people, I may be about to join the Modaco PPC revolution! Goodbye for at least twelve months Orange. I doubt you will miss me, you don't seem to have any love for, or loyalty towards, your longstanding(ish) customers! 'Likewise' is all I can say!
Guest sdenvers Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Anyone know if you can get these cheaper at airports or more specifically in Amsterdam? I'm planning a weekend there soon and wondered if it would be worth waiting. Don't want to commit to a T-Mobile contract, nor do I want to pay £400. Don't want much!

(www.zeewee.co.uk) just have to wait for it now
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 just have to wait for it now :( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We feel for ya, buddy. That's the worst part
Guest jklondon Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 We feel for ya, buddy. That's the worst part  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I find that a lot of technology never lives upto the expecation but from all the posts (and reviews) its seems this might be different ...although im sure Ill be looking elsewhere after 6 months @ :(
Guest yorkie2k3 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 just got mine delived from ukphoneshop Lingerhosen. In the 24 hours just like they said and i am now converted from the c500.
Guest ftasende Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 just got mine delived from ukphoneshop Lingerhosen. In the 24 hours just like they said and i am now converted from the c500. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Got mine from ukphoneshop as well. Very quick but they "forgot" to port my old number,e-maild them but I´m worried now that I might loose it in the meanwhile. Does anybody now how this process work? on the instructions it says that the new number will be activated in the next 24 hours. wouldl they be able to get the porting tomorrow, what if the new number is activated? I wouldn´t like to loose my old number. If that was the case, can I claim back to the company? They also manage to "loose" my cashback offer, the vouchers are not present anywhere.
Guest belfast-biker Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 so how can I get one of these. Just scancom is it? anyone tried ukphoneshop.com ? Are they in stock. Orange - Not in the next month apparently. 02 ? Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> mobilejoker.de, 317ukp. Need to flash the ROM , not difficult once you know which instructions to follow...
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Still haven't managed to ring up and get my PAC code yet, so my old number is still running! I believe that they have thirty days to transfer it before it dissapears into the ether... I read on one thread that you shouldn't cancel your old contract. That, once the PAC code has been accepted, the old contract will automatically be cancelled. Makes sense I suppose, as they wouldn't have a number to bill you for!! (Am waiting to see what will happen when mine transfers mind, no doubt I will get shafted by 'The Man'). Nothing changes... :( Still, just how cool is the Compact? I'll answer: WAY cool!! (Scratched it on it's corner on my first day by dropping it...STUPID BOY!!!)
Guest ClintEastman Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 WOW.... T-Mobile arn't selling these cheap are they!!! £129.99 Relax 100 (12 month) I won't be getting one of these direct!!
Guest m80arm Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 How long does delivery from MoDaCo take to the UK?? Thanks Michael
Guest jklondon Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 (edited) "Not cheap on T-Mobile" exactly get your now from somewhere like scancom or zeewee.co.uk ! Mine arrived today but ended up at the Royal Mail Depot .ggggg  Edited February 18, 2005 by jklondon
Guest ClintEastman Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Just been on the phone to Orange Trials Team and they have confirmed the existence of the M500, and that is going through testing, he also told me that there will be getting trialists to test them out!! He also said that Orange's cosmetic "tweaks" aren’t that nice.
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 So... if they really put their backs into it, and make a concerted effort to put the handset out then we should expect to be able to get one in about approximately.............six months! (After a recall and various supply problems!) I think I made the right decision to jump ship and get a free one on T-Mobile, rather than hang on paying over the odds for a contract on an outdated phone. I can't realistically see the Jam being available free on Orange until it's outdated and we are all talking about the next shiny new handset! If they get their act together I may consider a 'triumphant return' in twelve months! In this business it's the quick and the dead! Loyalty is for suckers (It seems to be their ethos anyhow!).
Guest ClintEastman Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Well the Orange Trials are a bit odd, they run the trials even when the phone has been released, so at the moment im trialing a 6630 (a phone you can buy from Orange today). I see no reason why Orange wouldn't do the same with the M500 and release it soon (after the internal testing) and give some of the early units to the trialests...
