Guest hamd01 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 A few weeks ago I had my C500 in my pocket, and bumped into a desk at work...ouch. And guess what, the screen shattered!! Oh no!! I contacted HTC and the repair was going to cost in the region of £90. Then I had a brainwave..... I logged onto the HTC Site and looked into booking my phone in for a warrenty reapir to the dust behind the screen problem. One of the options under warrenty repair is to have a new screen cover fitted.... for £5.... yes a FIVER! So, I booked the phone in for a warrenty fix, and selected the optional 'new lcd screen cover' for £5 + tax. I popped the phone in the post with a cheque, and it came back yesturday just like new! Thats my tip on how to save £85 should you be stupid enough to damage your phone, and havent already had the dust behind the screen problem fixed. David.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Top tip, Fella  Just for completeness, how long between sending the phone off and getting it back ?
Guest DomConway Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) Good work hamd01! What's the URL of the HTC site you used to book your phone in for repair? The only site I can find is http://www.htc.com.tw/ but that's their Taiwan home and doesn't have any options for repair. Edited February 16, 2005 by DomConway

Guest radiator Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hey hamd01, which part of the screen broke - the actual LCD or just the outer casing? My SP3i LCD broke recently, and if it's gonna cost about the same amount (+ the shipping to/from Dubai), I think I'll just go pick up a second hand one...
Guest hamd01 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 OK.... it took around 2 weeks to send and get it back, the site I used was www.htceurope.com The LCD screen itself was not damaged, it was the perspex cover in front of the screen. I agree... I was very lucky to get this fixed for £5+VAT, but Im chuffed to bit, especially since they also sorted the dust issue. David.
