Phone is Stuck in Headset Profile

The Problem: You plug in your headset, have a nice long chat to someone, then uplug it and it's locked in Headset mode. You can try changing the profile back, but no - nothing. It sticks in headset profile - you can try hard reset but that won't fix it. Why ?

Well, when you push the headset in a small switch inside tells the phone OS that a "plug" is inserted and cleverly it changes itself to "Headset" profile. Unfortunately sometimes this "switch" gets stuck. One suggestion that's been made to me is that Microsoft could allow the OS to "ignore" this switch - so you could manually change it back to your own profile.. but then you'd have to change it back manually to "headset" mode if you plugged the headset back in again wouldn't you?

Solutions:

1. Try pushing it back in fully, then pull it out slowly - hopefully then it'll either slot back into "Normal" mode, or you can choose "normal" mode again.

2. If that doesn't work work - try blowing really hard into the headset socket.

3. If THAT doesn't work, try Best method I've found is to use a cocktail stick (remove the sharp point) as it's non conductive it's quite easy to reset the switch.

Don't try poking anything in.. you might damage it. (source coolsmartphone.com)

User manual

You can download the current user manual for your phone from the web:-

After update or downgrade phone just returns to the 3 color MV screen

Don't panic!

The following will help if you did not remove the phone from the cradle during the update.

1) remove phone from cradle, and Hard Reset it.

2) right click activesync, select connections and disable the usb connection.

3) reconnect the phone to another usb port.

4) re-run the update with the phone is still in the 3 color MV screen.

Removed the phone/pc rebooted during the update/downgrade, is my phone dead?

You can try the following:

1) find a friend with a similar phone, and a spare sd card (about 32mb).

2) open USBTerm, and backup bootloader to sd card.

3) backup GSM and CE to sd card.

4)place sd card in your broken phone, and reboot.

5) The broken phone should prompt you to download the PBOOT,GSM and CE.

6) Press the action button.

7) Wait (it takes about 5-10 mins) until it says it has passed all 3 options.

The phone will now boot. you can then run the original phone manufacturers update to get your phone running properly.

Downgraded my bootloader, now stuck on the orange sunset screen

You should leave the phone for 30 mins, if it's still stuck, you will need to perform a hard reset. As the IPSM is invalid from the newer update. If this does not work you may need to re-run the update again.

After an update, the phone has stopped on the orange sunset/smart/imate logo.

Do not be tempted to remove the battery, this process can take upto 20 mins to complete. Removing the battery could cause major damage.

Re-ran operators upgrade, messages about communications errors

You probably disabled the activesync process manually to perform the simunlock, you should either manually restart activesync, or reboot your pc before running the update.

voicemail indicator is stuck on

This is actually a problem with the Orange network.

To clear it, either ring the operator and ask them to clear it, or ring yourself, leave yourself a voicemail, then listen to the message, press delete, then wait for the 'you have no new messages' sound, then hangup.

To prevent this happening, ensure you wait for the 'you have no new messages' sound when you delete a message, before you hang up.

Phone shows I have unread SMS or Email, but there are not any

This is a bug, and can be easily removed.

(this method will delete all messages in your inbox).

Browse on the pc or the phone to the IPSM directory, then rename the file cemail.vol to cemail.old then reboot.

OR (less destructive)

download and install the DBViewSP editor to go to IPSMcemail.vol

under that go to 'pmailNamedProps' and select it to edit the values

scroll down to the very last 2 values, which should be called 'UnreadCou...'

delete them

restart

Phone shows MMS messages as Emails!

This is a bug with the plugin used, no simple correction, sorry!

spv takes several goes to switch on.

Seems to be a design flaw with the spv, rectified in the E100. One work-a-round is to remove the sd card then switch the phone on, then replace the sd card.

'Hard Reset' for no reason

A Partial Reset can happen for a number of reasons:

Battery level getting too low.

Installing a bad reg tweak.

Playing with the registry.

Or it can 'just happen'.

Usually the phone rewrites the registry if it becomes corrupt, or if the IPSM becomes unstable. It is a 'device saving' feature, if the phone had not reset, you may end up with a phone that is dead!

I installed a PPC application by mistake or a failed installation

Failed installations can be cause by not enough physical memory available at the time of install. When this happens you can have problems like being unable to install other applications.

Using a file manager on the phone, goto IPSM/Windows/AppMgt/Install, and delete the contents. This may not be visible using a pc to browse the phone.
