Guest hey_tim Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 UK user. I've unlocked my 550 from orange and am having great difficulty getting mms or gprs to work on the virgin network..Virgin have given me the WAP and MMS settings but these don't appear to tie in with any settings on the SPV. anyone already done this or have any ideas? Cheers, Tim.

Guest hey_tim Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Try the settings repository, link below http://www.modaco.com/Smartphone_Settings_...itory-f138.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the pointer - I've got wap working now but mms still bombs - there doesn't seem to be anywhere to enter the mmsc address? Tim.
Guest hey_tim Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Ok, found where to enter the mmsc address. Nowhere to enter the proxies though? Wap is still working ok but not mms. If i try to send a message i get: 'Unable to connect. Vefiry you have network coverage and try again.' and 'Unable to send your mewssage(s). Your message(s) will remain in your Outbox.' If I receive an mms the text part get's through ok but not the mm part of it: 'Unable to connect. Vefiry you have network coverage and try again.' again and options to postpone or cancel the download. I guess I must have missed changing one of the settings but can't for the life of me work out where?! Tim.
Guest whitestar Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Found these settings for proxy Gateway IP (proxy) address: 193.030.166.001 Port: 8080 Don't know if it'll help but it's worth a try. :)

Guest warb Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Hi, I'm having similar problems getting MMS to work on my C550 on Virgin. I've followed through the settings below but under: 'Start Messaging Media Messages Menu Options Account Setup' I don't have an option for 'Media Messages' I only have IMAP4. :) I have tried to create a new entry but it appears to just create another IMAP4 connection. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, Warb.

If so I would appreciate it alot if you could pass on the info.. Would appreciate it if you could let me know if you hear of a way to resolve this.

Guest warb Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Have you entered mms settings here? ................... configurations (3) mms settings (enter ) menu (new) Sorry Carmel can you confirm where these steps should be done? I don't seem to be able to locate a configurations menu. The only thing i can find is the account setup menu under the options of media messaging. Could you provide any more info? Thanks in advance.
Guest martin Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Your menus should allow you to setup something like this.. GPRS connection: Description: GPRS MMS Connects to: Secure WAP network Access point: goto.virginmobile.uk Username: user Password: wap Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank In Data connections make 'Secure WAP Network: GPRS MMS' Start-Configurations-MMS settings Menu-MMSC Settings Highlight orangemms and click Edit Name: virginmms (or any other name) MMSC Address: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk Data Connection: Secure WAP Network WAP gateway: 193.030.166.001 Port: 8002 Conencts via: Secure WAP network Max Sending size: 100K WAP version: WAP 1.2 (or try WAP 2.0) Done Backspace Done First try sending an MMS to yourself or to an email address :)
Guest warb Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 In Data connections make 'Secure WAP Network: GPRS MMS' Start-Messaging-Media Messages Menu-Options-Account Setup-Media Messages Menu- Edit connections - Menu- Add Thanks for the response but you have touched on the main problem i have. The section quoted above 'Menu-Options-Account Setup-Media Messages' cannot be completed on my phone as i only have an IMAP4 option when i do 'Menu-Options-Account Setup' Any idea why this might be? This has been the reaons why i haven't been to apply all the settings in the past. I can create a new connection but it only sets up an IMAP4 connection.
Guest martin Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 Ooops I've just double checked and forgot that's it's different on the C550 :) The MMS app is under Settings-Configurations. I've ammended the above settings to what I think should be on the C550 :D
Guest carmel Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 (edited) Sorry Carmel can you confirm where these steps should be done? I don't seem to be able to locate a configurations menu.
