Guest neilfenstein Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I have just received a C600 on upgrade with the latest AKU2 ROM, my problem is that I am a Mac user and my Mac Mini is my main PC. I have access to a Windows laptop but I need to be able to decert my phone to use the missing sync as it needs to install a .cab file to sync WM 5 devices. I have seen a few options on here and links to SPV dev forums that explain some ways but I would like it if someone who has decerted their phone will help with some advice. Would it be easier if I just Installed the Imate ROM or follow a decert routine? What would I gain/lose using the Imate ROM is it harder to do than to try and decert? It appears that I have not got a registered IMEI number yet and I am struggling trying thing on the mac as I have to turn off the phone each time I need to add things using the memory card and reader. If someone could post some links to the files that I need for the best method or explain the process so that I can download the files etc and then use the windows laptop it would be good but so far I am unable to run windows specific reg editors etc. Totally gutted as I only owned my Mac mini for a week or two and have had an excellent experience switching to the Mac using the missing sync, bluetooth and the program itself work far better with my c550 than active sync ever did on my old PC. This has wiped the smile off my face lol. Thanks in advance! :D
Guest cuchulain Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Don't know if I can help , but heres the road i went down.... I don't have the reasons that you do , but I wanted to decert my C600 and sim unlock to use my work simcard as well as my own private one (C600 is orance, work sim is vodafone) I looked at the whole flashing scenario and decided against it , purely as I felt it would be to potentially damaging for me (I imagined blowing up the phone !!!) so I went the Decert route. Heres a little tutorial i dragged up from before when I decerted mine ... You need a signed registry editor. Otherwise WM5 AKU2 doesn`t accept the changes. Do a search and find RegeditSTG Put it on your card or phone memory and run from file explorer. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\ Click "Values" soft-key Change "00001001" value to 1 (decimal) (recovery note: default is 2) Change "00001005" value to 40 (decimal) (recovery note: default is 16) Then Reboot your phone. Download the SDA_ApplicationUnlock program. Open Internet explorer on your pc first (actually very important , as the program uses IE) Extract and run from your desktop with the phone connected by ActiveSync. Reboot the device when requested. That`s all. Unfortunately I couldn't attach the files , but i'm sure if you search for these files on this site , you'll find them. Hope this helped Neil :D Snip >> can download the files etc and then use the windows laptop it would be good but so far I am unable to run windows specific reg editors etc. Totally gutted as I only owned my Mac mini for a week or two and have had an excellent experience switching to the Mac using the missing sync, bluetooth and the program itself work far better with my c550 than active sync ever did on my old PC. Guest The Doctor Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 (edited) Decerted by default C600 ROM can be found HERE :D Will run without modifying CID on your C600 Phil [EDIT: Removed regeditSTG.exe certificate revokation. And many thanks to Zone-MR for the OS :D] Edited August 24, 2006 by The Doctor
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 So I just run this off a Windows PC with my phone active synced like a normal ROM upgrade and it will re install the ROM with the ability to follow the standard registry decert routine? I very much appreciate your help. I have seen you post about the splash screen and the fact that you have a customised ROM, is there any difference in the decert ROM or is it exactly the same as UK 11.2.1.5 ROM but with sone of the certificates changed?

I'm trying to use SPV_Services to unlock my phone but it still wont let me install the CAB file on the phone, help. Do I still need to do all the registry tweaks to get apps to install using regeditSTG.exe? If so I tried that and it still wont let me run regeditSTG.exe Thanks Dave Edited August 24, 2006 by artax

Guest artax Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Trying it now, will let you know. Thanks Dave It would appear that the version I am trying to install is 11.2.1.9 but I still have 11.2.1.5 after the upgrade so it still isnt working, any ideas why? All I'm doing is running the upgrade program and I get the following screen (see attached jpg) Everything seems to go ok but then when I reboot I still have the old ROM Help? Dave

Is this correct? http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/H...on_Unlock_Guide Dave that may very well be the case.... i've got a qtek 8310 with an i-mate rom so try installing the imate rom and then the patched c600 rom. unless you prefer the imate rom :D also try CID unlocking with the SPV-Service tool in order to flash the rom Phil EDIT: Found this: Orange Unlock Tool: Emailed orange at ([email protected]) with a polite request for the De-Cert/App unlock tool for the latest AKU2 Rom, explaining the problems i'd been having running various Apps & Tweaking my phone. This tool is specific to the IMEI so you will need to supply the following Information on your email: >My IMEI Number is - >Full name - >The Mobile Number of the SPV to be unlocked - +44?????????? >Daytime Contact Number - +44?????????? >Daytime email address - Edited August 24, 2006 by The Doctor

Is this correct? http://wiki.spv-developers.com/index.php/H...on_Unlock_Guide Dave I see where you're reading that, but that seems completely off-base. If you look at http://wiki.spv-developers.com/Patched_C600_ROM you see that it comes App-Unlocked & works perfectly with RegeditSTG. I would say that it is safe to just flash the Patched C600 ROM and save yourself the time. Edited August 24, 2006 by merwin
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 So I'm at work and I cannot download files through the internet here. I will have to have a go at home. Is there reason apart from the settings and orange home screen plugin to continue and flash to a patched orange rom? It sounds like this is as awkard as I thought it may be! Artax let me know how you get on and what you think of the imate rom.

Guest artax Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Get the following error when trying to flash the imate firmware even when I change the version number in the header (see jpg), will keep trying. Dave
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 I tried the modaco dercerted ROM and it did nothing but strip my phone of the setup i had done! I am not bothered but this is exactly why I started this thread, I have seen many claims and descriptions for updating/hacking the phone to unlock. I need to sort this as the phone is basically dead to my mac without the ability to install the cab file that missing sync uses. I woder if anyone can point me to a walkthrough for installing the imate rom or actually getting the modaco decert rom to work!
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 UPDATE! I have gone the long way round! I downloaded the latest Imate rom and changed the header and installed the file as explained @ wiki.spv-developers.com. I then ran regeditSTG and changed the policies as you would with the old c600 pre AKU2. After this I installed the cert.cab that is bundled with the CID tool and ran the CID tool. Eventually I installed the decert C600 modaco splash screen ROM and it is on and working as previously explained. Thanks for your help.

Guest thornd Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I also have just bought an imac and was also hoping to use missing sync with my C600. but this all sounds very complicated. Did it work in the end can can you now sysn with the mac? if so can you post an idiots guide step by step instructions on how to do this or is it for experts only? or should i just junk the c600? is this the only WM5 phone that doesnt work with missing sync ? what is the alternative if i want to sync with the mac? thanks
Guest ian_r_l Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Can you tell me exactly which rom you used as I'm not having any success and exactly what you set in the headers etc? Thanks Dave I'd also like to know as I've tried 5 different roms now and the only one that will allow the phone to actually boot is the new app locked orange one. All the others get stuck at the bootloader screen. Many thanks Ian
