Guest mikeeey Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) hey does anyone have a ultra mini sd card? how much better is it than a normal sd (assuming it is better lol). for christmas im thinkin of gettin a 2gb ultra II mini sd and rite now i got just a normal 2gb mini sd. the reason why i want an ultra II sd is cause i love the program coolcamera and im hoping that it can record and write fast enough. with normal mini sd its not fast enough and the audio is off sync with the video. so anyone thats done some video recording using an ultra II could i get ur responce on how it was? if there's somethin better then that would be even more of a help. thanks much appreciated Edited December 26, 2006 by mikeeey
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 I would be surprised if you saw much of a diference, it's normally the reader on the device that causes any bottlenecks.
Guest mikeeey Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 I would be surprised if you saw much of a diference, it's normally the reader on the device that causes any bottlenecks. well cuz if i record video strait to the device its perfect sync and better framerate, and when i use the memory card its worse (using coolcamera. htc camera video is off sync too tho). doesnt it use the same reader for both? just different dirrectory?
Guest Confucious Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 The bottle neck, as awarner rightly points out, is the speed at which the device is capable of reading the card. He measns the actual hardware card reader in the phone not the software reading the video.

It is 60X speed - my SD card in my Universal is 150X and I have noticed no diff between that and 4X cards - I have had various different speed cards and none of them have made any difference. This one *could* be different of course and have some magic device that speeds up the bus on your phone so maybe I should buy one just to test.....

Guest mikeeey Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 (edited) well 25 days left till christmas. im gonna be so mad if i dont get this card. but if i do il say if it works well for coolcamera well its christmas! and i got my SanDisk Ultra II Mini SD 2GB! and it works perfect! its so much faster! its just as fast as recording to the device memory. if ur into video recording then i recomend getting this card! its deffinatly worth it! no worrying about when people saying its the bottle neck speed and there will be no difference (awarner u were wrong! hahaha im glad u were wrong too. wat u said really started to worry me), there is a big difference! and u will notice it! im really happy that this worked and now i can record high quality videos with excellent framerate. and coolcamera can take full advantage of this card. again i really recomend getting this! Guest راعي Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 mikeeey whats the maker of your old miniSD 2gb ?? is it Sandisk or what ???
Guest mikeeey Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 mikeeey whats the maker of your old miniSD 2gb ?? is it Sandisk or what ??? yes its Sandisk. just a normal 2gb made by them. same with the 1gb that i had before that, and it would have the voice/sound delay and slower framerate. the one i have now is also sandisk but just much much better. even on my friends sda it had the sound delay so i sold him my 1gb when i got my 2gb and it still had the sound delay on his phone too.

Guest راعي Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) when u say that do u mean they both record with the sound delay or they both record with perfect i have Sandisk card yes it record with perfect sound and frameratebut i dont try to record by the COOLCAMERA app i try this on the normal camera app on SP5 its only record 15 frame in a secondi know that the COOLCAMERA can record video up to 25 frame maybe thats why you need faster card but i have the same problems that yours when i have SE p910 i buy for it memory stick DUO 256 mb and then i buy the memory stick pro DUO 512 mb but no good when i record video the sound and the framerate is poor but after that i try to record in the mobile memory sound and the framerate is very good even the color of the frame is diffrent and good enjoy with your new 2GB man and have a nice day :) Edited December 27, 2006 by راعي الفتك 2005

Guest راعي Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) very good video WOW the new card make this diffrant :) is your mobile overcloked to 256mhz ???? Edited December 28, 2006 by راعي الفتك 2005
Guest mikeeey Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) very good video WOW the new card make this diffrant :) is your mobile overcloked to 256mhz ???? lol. actually its overclocked to 264mhz. i recorded using 176x96, (read below) aspect ratio 16:9, 90% quality, and i had just the screen itself set on graysmall just to get a few extra frames for framerate. i would get 24-25fps when recording. i recorded at a 176x96 resolution, then the last 7 seconds of the video i found out that 160x80 worked much better and it was brighter. if u record at a small resolution with really good quality u can upsize the resolution on the computer and it looks really good.
