Guest Chunky Monkey Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 Hi guys wonder if you could help. For whatever reason my SPV M500 has stopped syncing to my PC. I've spent the last couple of nights trying to fix the problem but have only resulted with less hair than when I started! What was doing was to just not connect, the little spinny green arrow thing would stay grey. Not really a problem as I only used to sync once a month & used the PC to charge the phone. Then the other day I lost the SPV, dunno how it just dissapeared. Thankfully I found it. However the backup battery has gone flat! Erasing all my data & contacts. First I was quite annoyed then though hey, this isn't a problem - its a posh phone I can just resync with the PC & all will be dandy. er no. I've played with every setting, I've disabled my firewall & Windows own, I've disabled my anti-virus, I've uninstalled, reinstalled - even reloaded the pc - & have downloaded the latest ActiveSync software. To startr with I was getting the usual 'bong-bing' to say it was connected & the spinny green arrow thing would spin & spin - & spin, the window just saying 'connecting' although after about a hour I gave up & pulled the plug (Open ActiveSync on the phone & it says connected). Now when I replug the phone in - it doesn't start to sync. So I have to close ActiveSync & restart it, reconnect the phone & we're off again. I've played round with some random settings on both the phone & the PC & all of a sudden it works, sort of. It now says its connected on the PC, but hangs when I try to either explore the phone or restore a backup. I've tried Microsofts website & quite frankly I got more advise from our dog! To top it off my fathers SPV C550 has started to do exactly the same thing. Please help before I go completely bald!!!
Guest yrreP Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Maybe try hard resetting the M500? If another device is doing it too, maybe check the method of connectivity - i.e th USB cable, or BT dongle etc? Ensure they are working OK.
Guest andysalmon Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Try this...http://www.modaco.com/Active-sync-t250819.html
Guest Chunky Monkey Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 yeh I plugged it into my old mans PC & it does exactually the same thing. Just to rub salt in the wounds he's just got a M3100 that he plugged in & it syncs first time. I think the problem might be that the PC knows the phone in a partnership, but becuase either the phones name or the pcs name has changed it cannot connect, unfortunalty I've no idea what either name was before. I han't find anywhere to canel or delete any current partnerships. I thought when you connected it for the first time it would bring up the partnership window & setup what it can & cannot sync with, this doesn't, it automatiaclly selects Guest & then cannot connect.
Guest yrreP Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Deleteing partnerships should be - On PC File Delete Mobile Device ?
Guest Chunky Monkey Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 No under file, with the phone disconnected I just have, Get Connected, Connection Settings & Close, everything else is grey'd out. If I connect the phone I just get the connecting screen & all the menus are grey'd out
