Guest Dster Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) Edit: I created a short, silent .wav file that I called "Default.wav". I replaced the Default.wav in my windows directory on my S710. Problem solved! If mobileregistryeditor had a search function I would have gone through and disabled all references to this sound file (since playing a short, silent file uses more resources than not playing a file). If anyone has the time or inclination to find references to Default.wav in your registry, please post! ---------------------------------------------------------------- I've turned off sounds for everything except alarm and ringer. When browsing contacts, and holding up or down long enough to go to letter navigation, I get a loud beep when I let go of the up/down. I have the WIFI beep also -- it sounds the same. The WIFI beep only seems to appear when it turns off or on due to sleep mode on or off. Any suggestions out there? I want to disable ALL my beeps! Edited May 1, 2007 by Dster
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 It's in a few places: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\System\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\SystemVolumeSound\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\VoiceVolumeSound\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemDefault\Sound I don't have the time / inclination to work out exactly which one is the offender though  P
Guest Bunecarera Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Where exactly is the default.wav? Can't seem to find it...
Guest Carlos Fandango Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Where exactly is the default.wav? Can't seem to find it... It's located in the main Windows directory.
Guest Bunecarera Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Problem is, I can't seem to edit that file. I can't even open the map on my computer...
Guest Pr0sper Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\System\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\SystemVolumeSound\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\VoiceVolumeSound\DefaultSound HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemDefault\Sound Anybody knows which one of these is for the ugly sound when clicking the voice button next to the volume control ? It's very annoying IMO.
Guest alfer Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Anybody knows which one of these is for the ugly sound when clicking the voice button next to the volume control ? It's very annoying IMO. And which one is to disable the wifi beep? Its driving me nuts!
Guest Bunecarera Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 making a silent default beep eventually did the trick for me...
Guest paholman Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) And which one is to disable the wifi beep? Its driving me nuts! Changed all the above registry keys to unique values, and even rebooted after change:- HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\System\DefaultSound - \My Documents\Notes\Recording1.wav HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\SystemVolumeSound\DefaultSound - \My Documents\Notes\Recording2.wav HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\VoiceVolumeSound\DefaultSound - \My Documents\Notes\Recording3.wav HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemDefault\Sound - \My Documents\Notes\Recording4.wav None of those affect the Wifi Beep or the Voice Tag beeps. Perhaps it's hard coded to use Default.wav Edited June 14, 2007 by paholman
Guest paholman Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) There's a file called \Windows\sdsilence.wav. You could copy that and called it Default.wav to save you creating one. It's only 124 bytes. This does indeed stop the Wifi beep (nice one Dster  ). The Voice Tag beeps are a mystery Edited June 14, 2007 by paholman
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 I'll have a snoop around, see what I can find! P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Hmmm, nothing obvious for either the WiFi beep or the Voice Dial beeps sadly  P
Guest whc Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Why not just turn System sounds OFF in profiles, that is what I have done, no more irritating beep from WLAN ...
Guest jockyw2001 Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Why not just turn System sounds OFF in profiles, that is what I have done, no more irritating beep from WLAN  ... Nice, life can be so simple :P

Guest Brownsugar Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 (edited) Hey everybody, If you want to turn of (or lower) the bip sound when you initiat a call, you have to modifiy the following value: 1. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart 2. Change the InitVol value to 0 (or 1 to lower) It works "fine" but the problem is when you change profile, you have to modify again the registy keys... Any help??? Edited June 14, 2007 by Brownsugar
