HELP. I can't install anything on SPV E650

Got the SPV E650 yesterday.

Trying to install cabs in the Paul's must have topic, but cannot install anything.

Firstly, RemoveSecurity.CAB.

After selecting Phone or Storage card, I get the Spinning Windows Wheel, then it hangs.

I've tried Sprite Backup, same thing

I tried SDA Unlocker.exe, which said it worked, but any registry changes I try, I get Access Denied

Any cab file won't work.

I tried a hard reset, same problem.

I'm waiting for http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/ mail with the unlocking tool too, but I'm afraid they may not send it as the phone no is PAYG.

Could the phone be locked to Contract SIM;s only?

Could the install problems because the phone is a contract phone, but I'm using a PAYG sim in it?

Please help anyone?

Took my storage card out, installed the unlock from http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/, unplugged USB, so no ActiveSync occuring, and unlock tool worked.

I have managed to successfully install Sprite onto phone (With no storage card).

Trying with Storage card in now

I can't install anything if the Storage Card is in. It just hangs. (tried the free 128MB and a 1GB Card)

also reformated the 128MB card as FAT, but still no luck, even if I select Device to install to.

Works fine without any card.

Faulty phone?

Oops. It seems I'm not the only one: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=254569

Hi, did you manage to fix this?

I recently got a 1GB microSD and noticed i cant install .cab´s anymore...programs that are installed on windows manage to install no problem!

maybe that is a way around it?

but i have no idea how to install a program via AS if it comes in a .cab file....anyone know how??

cheers

Mike

Normally you would transfer the cab file to your phone and run it there - see the links in my sig for installation instructions for the various file types.

However Paul (MVP) has given us this tool to install can files directly from your PC :

Also, check this thread for the discussion on the 'spinnig wheel' problem ;

It's not really a problem, just an annoyance :)
