Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 It arrived! Not yet done anything useful with it tho ;) P
Guest DJHope Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Paul if you do try it id suggest using the settings that the xda guys used to connect to the spv, not that you didnt know that! Oh and something else thats quite intresting that i noticed whilst it was doing the update is that on the canary 3 color screen it changes from USB to Serial depending on if its in the cradle or not, maybe their is a way to connect to it via usb? DJ Hope
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I tried the manipulator, and the HyperTerminal method ;) P
Guest Firaas Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The addresses of the codes in the ROM will be different to the XDA. Waiting for mine to arrive next week. Modem should be working via serial?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Haven't tried that. When in the bootloader, it doesn't seem to respond to anything I send... P
Guest DJHope Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 try typing "?" it should bring up a list of commands, did u get it in bootloader mode then? Did it give the CPU speed etc? DJ Hope
Guest Firaas Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 What are you sending? Ignore me if you've seen it but there's an explanation for all the possible commands on XDA-Developers' bootloader page. Apparently another forum user used the stuff in there and the serial cable from Moonlight Tech (which I ordered) to get cpu info...
Guest Firaas Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Leave the bootloader and get to the three colour canary screen, try sending commands there. This is where it waits for a serial/USB connection.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I couldn't get ANYTHING! I only had a quick go tho... Will play more when I have more time! P

Guest DJHope Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 ohhhhhh intresting thats how far florin got when he said he had full control over the SPV, i rekon you could be close paul ;)
Guest aGeS Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Suddenly Paul is all quiet about the serial cable findings.. ? Paul: Did you find out anything or nothing at all ? How did you get the diagnostics - what did you do ? Just got my own cable and I can connect (got it about 4 min ago) but nothing else...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 I got this (above) by just attaching the serial cable, and turning the phone on in bootloader mode. Haven't had time to play any more tho ;) Maybe over the weekend... P
Guest emsoftsys Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Sorry guys, just being nosey nay inquisitive, what does the serial cable empower you to do, what is Paul 'close to' Forgive me for being 'inquisitive' Adrian
Guest Firaas Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Sorry guys, just being nosey nay inquisitive, what does the serial cable empower you to do, what is Paul 'close to' Forgive me for being 'inquisitive' Adrian The serial cable lets you get closer to the "secret" bit of the phone - the ROM. It is from here that one should be able to access the SID unlock code, which means that one could take off the lock which stops non-Orange sims being used.
Guest emsoftsys Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Oh Right! Thanks for responding Firass, presumably when one finds a way into the Rom then a piece of software could be written and then the 'restrictive walls tumble'?
Guest Firaas Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Yeah - this was done by the XDA-Developers for the XDA. Got to try and find this SID code, will get my cable in 5-8 days...
Guest emsoftsys Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Just had a look at the link, your desk doesn't look like that does it Firass? Good luck when you get your cable (that's if Paul doesn't beat you to it).
Guest plink212 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Well I am at the same stage as paul but nothing will work? Is the considered view that any commands should be passed at the canary bootloader screen or at the hard reset screen? Tim
Guest Firaas Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 The commands should be passed at the three-colour canary screen.
Guest plink212 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 The only problem is that it will not let you pass any commands it comes up with " +DisplayInit +PL_LcdCtrlInit Set frame buffer DMA in SRAM=20001000 -PL_LcdCtrlInit=38 +Init Panasonic LCM -Init Panasonic LCM -DisplayInit Init InformationCenter Init CommandManager start=10A00000 size=00002000 IMIF_PRIORITY = 0 EMIF_SLOW_PRIORITY = 0 EMIF_FAST_PRIORITY = 0 CPU speed = 84 MHz TC speed = 84 MHz PER speed = 84 MHz LCD speed = 84 MHz DSP speed = 84 MHz DSPMMU speed = 84 MHz ================================================== Built at: Oct 25 2002 17:59:33 Copyright © 2000-3000 High Tech Computer Corporation Canary Bootloader v0.91 HaveCard? 0420 Waiting ........
