Serial Cable Arrived

Guest PaulOBrien

Paul if you do try it id suggest using the settings that the xda guys used to connect to the spv, not that you didnt know that!

Oh and something else thats quite intresting that i noticed whilst it was doing the update is that on the canary 3 color screen it changes from USB to Serial depending on if its in the cradle or not, maybe their is a way to connect to it via usb?

What are you sending? Ignore me if you've seen it but there's an explanation for all the possible commands on XDA-Developers' bootloader page.

Apparently another forum user used the stuff in there and the serial cable from Moonlight Tech (which I ordered) to get cpu info...

Suddenly Paul is all quiet about the serial cable findings.. ?

Paul: Did you find out anything or nothing at all ? How did you get the diagnostics - what did you do ?

Just got my own cable and I can connect (got it about 4 min ago) but nothing else...

Guest Paul [MVP]

I got this (above) by just attaching the serial cable, and turning the phone on in bootloader mode.

Haven't had time to play any more tho ;)

Maybe over the weekend...

The serial cable lets you get closer to the "secret" bit of the phone - the ROM. It is from here that one should be able to access the SID unlock code, which means that one could take off the lock which stops non-Orange sims being used.

Oh Right! Thanks for responding Firass, presumably when one finds a way into the Rom then a piece of software could be written and then the 'restrictive walls tumble'?

Just had a look at the link, your desk doesn't look like that does it Firass?

Good luck when you get your cable (that's if Paul doesn't beat you to it).

Well I am at the same stage as paul but nothing will work? Is the considered view that any commands should be passed at the canary bootloader screen or at the hard reset screen?

The only problem is that it will not let you pass any commands it comes up with
