Guest rcperez Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Is there a driver for using an external landline USB Modem for internet connection, instead of using PC passthrough, GPRS and WAP. Previously owned both Nokia 9110/9210i and they both were able to connect with a landline modem (advance PPP/Extended Internet). I know you would all say what for, but i still used it and it fits my bill. Anyways, using your landline for connection is way cheaper than GPRS or WAP, and you don't have to need a pc for connection (e.g. checking mail, chatting, brownsing, backup) and the speed is comparable to a pc (56K faster than the 46.6k GPRS connection and 9600WAP - well for my network anyways). Both of these phone where really not designed to use an external modem directly but when they did it worked pretty smoothless. Anyways, its also good for long internet activity such as tech support, via VNC or Telnet, which is both available for SPV. All you need to bring is the phone and the modem and off to where you can go with a phone/electric wallsocket :) I just hope there's such a thing like that :D
