Guest slazh Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 My friend who is a businessman, just bought his own smartphone and he is bugging me if there is any way MS Money could be installed on his phone. I'm desperate because I have searched so many websites already and all there is is for Pocket PC. I was the one who urged him to buy a smartphone and it will discourage him if I would not be able to install Money on his phone... Please help
Guest Gorskar Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I don't think there is a smartphone version of MSmoney sorry. The PDA functions are a bit limited in that respect.
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Try JABP ("Just Another Banking Program"). It's a Freeware Java app. It takes a while to setup, but is quite clever.
Guest slazh Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Where would I be able to find JABP? Is it similar to Money? Do you know a quick link to it?
Guest dangallo Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Found this link on Google.. I assume this is it: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=678 :)
Guest slazh Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 thanks, dangallo. In theory, why would other software for Pocket PC run on a MS smartphone and not MS Money for Pocket PC? Have anybody here tried installing Money for Pocket PC on a smartphone? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it both devices run on Windows CE OS?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Two different platforms I'm afraid. And I think there are only one or two programs written for the PPC that work on the smartphone and they're basic games.
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 The link to the Java version is here: http://www.freepoc.org/viewapp.php?id=6 It will run because it's Java - assuming you have an E100 with Java installed, or an E200 (does the E200 come with Java?). It's not a PocketPC app.
Guest slazh Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I need help in installing JABP. Does anyone have tried installing it.... I've already downloaded the installer but the instructions do not include the smartphone 2002
Guest komplex Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Do you know if Microsoft Money supports exporting to the QIF format? If so you could write an app for the SmartPhone to import the QIF file. I did this for a Quicken app a few years ago when I wanted to import my finance data on to my Palm. The following link describes the file format if it of any use http://www.respmech.com/mym2qifw/qif_new.htm
Guest awesterink Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Money can export both to "strict QIF" as well as "loose QIF", which extends the maximum length of fields beyond the strict limit.
Guest midnight Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 chris, only the mitac comes with java, no other smartphones come with it, but several jvm ports are in progress
