Guest jason7579 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Help. My SPV is stuck in car mode. I have had it longer than a year, don't have insurance and have tried putting in and taking out the headset. Have searched the forum but all I can find is the tip to take out the headset slowly and this doesn't work.
Guest yosnoor Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I don't know if this applies to you, but I had a similar experience. I was messing with the profile xml files, and if they're invalid, it gets stuck on the last correct profile. So if you've been fiddling with the profile file, then check that it's valid or just remove them completely. Hope this helps.
Guest jason7579 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I havent touched the profile files but would like to try removing the car profile as i dont use it anyway. How do I do that please?
Guest mike-oh Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Try reinserting the camera or blow into the attachment area, that may fix it.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Yes the above work. A cocktail stick works too. Hardware fault yes, but with the most recent update to the SPV - the phone hasnt once got stuck in any profile :? spacecowboy
Guest bikoy Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 i concur, the above poceedure does work, i had the same problem months ago and it worked like a charm
Guest idavid Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 i have just fixed a stuck in headset problem. try fiddling around with the headset adapter in the plug. try and push the end of it slightly downwards (towards the base of the phone) as you pull it out.
Guest jason7579 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Thanks everyone. I tried altering the registry settings (changed the name Car to Car1) now it appears to stay in normal mode but still has same problems as when it was in car mode. Next will try putting on update 1.6.
Guest yosnoor Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 By the sound of things, removing your car.profile.xml file may solve the problem. The file is found in IPSMApplication DataProfiles. In fact you can remove all the files in there, but you will be left with the default settings for each profile. The files are only there if you have changed any of the default settings of a particular profile.
