Guest bickers Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Even though tho the e200 is not strictly video messaging, in the manual is states that currently the service is unavailable for the the handset, mainly cos the videos made will exceed 100kb. I was wondering if creating a sub - 100kb vid and sending using the send-via email and then selecting mms will come through to another video messaging phone e.g p900, 6600. Has anyone tried vid messaging at all?, or will there be an update for the handset which seems to be what the manual implies? Also, where is the send - via beaming/bt?, the manual is so wrong, it even states that videos can only be captured for 10 seconds which is rubbish and applies only to poor nokias like the 6600. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks :)
Guest shadamehr Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Manual has it (and warns about it) because at time of writing, the NETWORK was not set up for video messages supposedly, not the handset. BUT - take a careful look at Orange World - spot the difference between the £4 a month one, and the £6 deal... The £6 deal now includes so many free VIDEO messages... So it looks ike the network is now ready for it. Additionally, the ten second warning is not a maximum you can record, but the maximum you should USE, if you intend to SEND the video. If you just want it to playback on the phone etc, then you can record to the limit of your available storage. On some other phones though, you have an option of whether the video you are about to record is for sending or keeping, and the phone itself will then decide how long you can record for. Just with an E200, YOU have to decide for yourself how long to record for, based on what you then intend to do with the video file. Hope this helps, and it not absolute info - just a pointer...
Guest bickers Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 thanks for that, its just that i assumed the send function for videos would be via mms, whereas u have to choose email and then select mms. tried using the service and sent a 80kb vid to my email, hotmail recognised as 120kb for some reason but all came through and well. Is the 100kb pointer for phone to phone only or is that to all devices, for example, to email.?? Has anyone really tested the vid messaging out? Also since the e200 has a few minor probs, any idea when an update will be released?, i would like to play *.amr files which people send, and perhaps this could be fixed. Any assistance, very grateful.
Guest paulgibson Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 100k limit is phone to phone, and yes attaching vid to mms should work fine however never bothered to try.
Guest Anarchist22 Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 orange world access 6 has video messages for the p900. 6600 and the new alcatel that is on the handsets in review board their are no plans to add the send by mms option on the latest rom update, the 100kb limit like someone further up the thread said is just for phone to phone, soon as the network moves onto 3g which most the the utms bearers are already in place im sure 128kbs bandwith will alow e200 messages... the 300+ kbs isquite a while away 1 step at a time, dont want to end up like 3
