mpx200 feedback

This is an odd one:

I am currently on my 3rd mpx200. The first one I had I spilt oil all over (and had it replaced with the 2nd one through Orange Care)

The second one I had, when closing the phone to end a call, gave a squeak of feedback as the clam closed, indicating that the phone call had not hung up until about half a second before the closing of the phone. The caller on the other end of the line also gets an earful of feedback. I phoned Orange concerning this, and they replaced it with a whole new boxed phone: No. 3 (charger, etc. the lot).

This 3rd one does exactly the same as the 2nd one, but the 1st mpx I had didnt do it at all.

Has anyone else noticed this, or have I been deeply unlucky in getting two phones with the same fault?

Is it something I should be taking back to Orange, or is it an "undocumented feature" that I will have to put up with?

A bit unlucky I think! If you get the same fault three times O will offer you an alternate phone.......

Wouldn't it be unlucky if it happened for the third time just after MPx220 is released???? :lol

Is it feedback or is it an audible alert ?

(it might be the call-drop sound)

I don't have an MPX200 so I can't say if there is an extra sound used for the phone closing but it would still be associated with one of the Sound Categories.

Try temporarily setting the volume to off on the following.

Programs-Settings-Profiles (Menu-Edit active profile), Notification Volume=off and System=off

Programs-Settings-Accessibility, In-call alert volume=off

This should silence ALL sounds that use the Sound Categories Notification, system and In-call.

Check if the sound still occurs.

Thanks for the ideas.

I have tried turning all the sounds off but it seems like it is feedback.

I don't know whether I can be bothered to send it back now.

I'll see how I get on.

Yeah mine does the same, as quite sensibly the motorola doesnt hang up the call till it's fully closed. It is feedback, because when you close the phone the microphone and the speaker are next to each other. I think everyone will have this problem who has the mpx200, i dont know how your first one didn't suffer from this.

Yeah, mine does it as well, I hadn't really noticed it until my wife called me from my MPX and I got an earful of feedback.

For those who are interested, I have contacted Orange and they are sending me out yet another one, as a friend of mine complained that I nearly deafened him when I hung up yesterday.

Hopefully this one will be better.

I'm on ATT in the US and have the same problem, I haven't called them, i was just living with it. I am curious if a new phone will solve the problem.

SAme problem here too.. I've just learnt to hang up before closing the phone. My girlfriend always winged at me for hurting her ears.

Looks like I will have to take the phone apart again to try and locate

the mechanism for the closing, I presume it may be in the screen half of the phone, which is more awkward to take apart :?

I agree, its just something MPX users will have to live with. It doenst really bother me, because the phone is no where near my ears when i close it up, it just hurts the other persons ears on the line :)

just dont be runde and hang-up on people!!! :)

Is the feedback really that bad---like does it hurt your ears?????

wow that really is a bad design

Doesnt hurt the users ears, cos the phone is no where near your ear when you close your phone...

All's i hear is a small beeping type noise, but my girlfriend sure as hell complains about it...
