Guest smeg36 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Ok, I am having a major problem with my T-Mobile email. I have a POP3 account with Yahoo. I set up my account on my phone using the same settings that I had on Outlook on my computer. They looked like this: Your Name: Smeg36 E-Mail address: My yahoo address here Server type: POP3 Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Network: The Internet Username: My username Password: My Password Domain: Blank Save password was checked. Using these settings, I was able to check my email all I wanted. I could recieve any email that was in my inbox. However, I couldn't send any emails. I would always get an error. I was told (in another post) that if I changed my outgoing mail server to myemail.t-mobile.com, I could then send emails. That didn't work. At this point, I went to the T-Mobile My E-mail page, and set up my Yahoo account on their site. When I am still on their website, I can see emails that I sent to myself in the inbox on their site. I followed the directions to setup my phone to pop their site. I still can't get anything. Here are my settings with them: Your Name: Smeg36 E-Mail address: My yahoo address here Server type: POP3 Incoming mail server: myemail.t-mobile.com Outgoing mail server: myemail.t-mobile.com Network: The Internet Username: my phone number Password: My Password Domain: Blank Save password was checked. This is where it got kind of confusing. I can't check or send my email with these settings. I have tried leaving the password blank, and putting in my password. Nothing works. Help me!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Iwasnt aware yahoo had pop3 mail. I thought it was only webmail.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 You have to pay $20/year for it, but I really prefer POP access and my Yahoo address, so I figured I would fork out for it.
Guest Qman Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Try using the below SMTP server: myemail.t-mobile.com HTH
Guest smeg36 Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I tried using that. Check my first post for the settings I have tried. I appreciate the help though.
Guest yoos Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Under email options --> Sending there is a checkbox for 'Server Requires Authentication'. Did you give that a go? Also, does T-Mobile give us an email account to use with T-Zones??? What does 'myemail' equal in your statement 'myemail.t-mobile.com'? Is it your phone number?
Guest smeg36 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I did check the server required authentication box. The myemail from T-Mobile is their email service which checks your POP services, such as Yahoo in my case, brings any emails in you inbox to their inbox, then allows you to POP that to your phone. It is mainly for phones that don't offer an Inbox type program I think.
Guest Qman Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I tried using that. Check my first post for the settings I have tried. I appreciate the help though. Sorry about that! I also noticed that your using the same server for incoming email, what happened when you used pop.mail.yahoo.com? BTW the fore mentioned settings works great on my PPCPE but I haven't tested them on my Smartphone yet because its still in transit. :) Also what AP are you using for GPRS connection?

Guest smeg36 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 When I use the pop.mail.yahoo.com as my incoming, and the myemail.t-mobile.com as outgoing, I can recieve mail from the Yahoo inbox just fine, but it still won't send any. I am using the T-Zones $4.99 plan, and have my AP set as wap.voicestream.com because I am on the Smart Access plan (don't have enough credit), so I can't get the $20/month plan that is meant for Phone Editions.
Guest royiel Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I Send/Receive through yahoo via POP all the time. Don't use T-Mobile at all for this. You can however setup Yahoo to check other mail account and drop them into your Yahoo Inbox. Email setup for yahoo. Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing mail server : smtp.mail.yahoo.com Hope this helps.
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Set your incoming mail server to: pop.mail.yahoo.com Set your outgoing mail server to: myemail.t-mobile.com Make sure 'Server requires authentiation' is NOT checked in the Sending Options menu.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I will give that a try tomorrow when I get my new MPx200! I think I may have tried that, but I am not sure. Thanks for everyones help.

Guest smeg36 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I have always been able to get my email on the SPV, it is sending email that is the problem. I still can't quite figure that part out, even with all the help I am getting. I could only send with the pop.mail.yahoo server though, never the T-Mobile server.

Thats good to know because a SPV is what I'm getting, I have the unlimited internet plan so I should be ok I guess! Anyhow we'll see! Good Luck!
Guest smeg36 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Yeah, it should work fine with the unlimited internet plan ($20 one). I am having all these problems because I am using T-Zones unlimited. Also, your MSN will work if you perform the latest update to the phone's ROM, whereas I have to use Agile Messenger to get IM service working. Let me know if you can send and recieve emails with the unlimited plan fine, I will be interested in finding out.
Guest SatanX21 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I have an E100 and I'm using the myemail.t-mobile.com for SMTP and it is working great. I'm on the $20 internet plan....
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 That's weird -- I use the myemail.t-mobile.com server a few times a day to send email thru. It takes awhile sometimes, but eventually gets there. You didn't have the "Server requires authentication" turned on, did you? I didn't see that in your settings above, but thought I'd ask. Maybe it was trying to login (which isn't requied) and failed?
Guest SatanX21 Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 I dont have 'Server requires authentication' turned on either. It usually is pretty quick to, I have no issues sending at all.
