Guest lilngineer Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I am now using my MPx200 with T-mobile. I have noticed, however, when I get a voicemail message I no longer get a voicemail icon on the display. Instead I am notified via a sms message. Is there a way to change this with T-mobile? This is very annoying! help!
Guest optikal Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Its the way T-Mobile has their network set up. I've been through three phones with them, all unlocked, and they all functioned the same way on T-Mobile. I expect the Mpx200 I'll be receiving today to be no different.
Guest lilngineer Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I was afraid that was the case. I guess its just another difference b/t carriers that I will have to get used to. I do think the switch to T-mobile has be worthwhile, however.
Guest theodotcom Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 On my mpx i get the voicemail symbol with t-mobile.
Guest lilngineer Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 perhaps a difference between US/European T-mobile carries?
Guest D-rated Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 perhaps a difference between US/European T-mobile carries? Possibly, I can confirm that here in St. Louis I get a SMS message telling me I have a voice mail. What is pretty cool though is that either T-Mo or the phone knows when you get another SMS message and combines them. For instance, call your phone, leave a voice mail. Your phone will then give you an SMS saying '1 new voice mail'. Do not delete the voice mail or the SMS message. Call your phone again and leave another voice mail. Go back into your SMS and you should have just one SMS message, this time saying you have 2 new voice mails. It's like the system doesn't send a new one each time, but updates an existing SMS is you have it, or possibly deletes the old and replaces it with a new one. I'd still like the the voice mail counter and the voice mail icon to be able to work with T-mo, however that looks to be a lost cause.
Guest optikal Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 On my mpx i get the voicemail symbol with t-mobile. You're in the UK. T-Mobile in the US isn't set up the same, apparently. Voice mail icon does not work for T-Mobile in Illinois. My phones = Samsung N105>Motorola V60g>Samsung S105> Motorola Mpx200. First three all used SMS messages for voice mail notification. My GF's Nokia 3390 did also.
Guest yoos Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I was on the phone with the US T-Mobile customer support the other day and asked them about this... They told me that some of their phones use the tape recorder icon and some of them use an sms message to alert you of a voicemail.... I've only seen an sms with my spv and old samsung QN105.
Guest edmaceymacleod Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I have the mpx200 with orange (UK), and I suffer the same problem, I am notified of new answer machine messages with a message saying orange sim update. I have spoken to orange on several occasions and each time one of the operators gives a different excuse for this happening. I've just got used to it now.
