Guest D-rated Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Has anyone successfully accessed their Hotmail over their MPX on T-Mo's 4.99 data plan? Here's what I've tried: 1. Obviously you can't set up a POP3 connection. Would be great if you could. 2. Browse via PIE to mobile.msn.com and click on the hotmail link . . . after inputting the username and password it just hangs saying 'Finding site...' 3. Browse via PIE to www.modacoe.com/hotmail . . . this used to work, although I suspect with the new Hotmail service being offered to Modaco Plus members this was taken down. Any help?
Guest yoos Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I'm in the US with T-Mobiles 9.99 T-Zones Pro data package and.... 1. Can't do pop with hotmail... I don't believe they offer pop anymore to where you can read hotmail via pop (for a fee they offer the ability to read other pop's IN hotmail) 2. Doesn't work.... I have created and replied to many posts on this and have researched it until my right forefinger fingernail came off... My take based on the info I received from many people and my personal experience is that this is no longer possible to do with T-Mobile unless you have the full internet package ($20 unlimited). A while ago they started to block secure sites and other ports... 3. I was wondering about this one myself actually... I need a way to access my hotmail without dishing out the money for the $20 a month package!
Guest mcwarre Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Your'e not looking very hard guys look here if your MoDaCo Plus members....
Guest D-rated Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Your'e not looking very hard guys look here if your http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=54779>MoDaCo Plus members.... Right, I actually referenced that in my original post. MoDaCo used to offer a site to browse your Hotmail that did not use port 443 (or whatever port MSN was using), but with the advent of the Hotmail POP access to MoDaCo plus members I believe it's been taken down.
Guest mcwarre Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Fair Enough! Not to sure on that ask P or one of the mods...
Guest hanya Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 With the 4.99 plan, you can't access hotmail or any secure site. T-mobile blocks all ports except port 80 (regular internet). You actually don't even need to pay 4.99 for this. Since you don't use the myvoicestream feature, it's free.
Guest battletank Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Have you tried accessing Hotmail through MSN's Mobile interface? Point PIE to http://mobile.msn.com/ and follow the link. It gives a UI for Hotmail specifically designed for Smartphones. Ooops - ignore me - this is now a subscription service...
