Re-acquiring network after period of no service.

If I leave the phone in a place with no signal, it now prompts me to select a network that has coverage. If I cancel from that and take the phone somewhere that has a signal, it doesn't automatically re-acquire orange - end up having to restart the phone for it to get a signal. Really annoying, doesn't always happen but is particularly frustrating when it does e.g. when I come off the tube.

I know they've done some work on the radio side of the phone in the update, wonder if that's the problem?

Anyone else had this? How can I quickly and easily force the phone to look for the network without resetting it?

I had this problem with my original SPV, and now also with my E200 ... I work on a ship so sometime have long periods without service when at sea, or loose it brifly if i go inside the ship (big metal box) ... way to get signal is in settings go to Netwwork Search, or if that fails, you can turn the radio off and on again, but i too sometimes just have to resort to rebooting the phone.

NOT saying this IS the case for you, but if you set your network Selection to MANUAL, this would match exactly, the behaviour you outline.

If you are set to Manual, and the phone loses coverage, instead of saying no service, you get a Please Choose Network message (at least this is what happens on Nokias).

Then, if this is the case, and not done, once you do return to a coverage area, the phone will therefore often not re-aquire the home network.

Answer, if this IS your problem? Go to Settings > Phone > Networks, and turn it to Automatic, if it is set to Manual.

Might help.

Nope, when on manual you do get the prompt to select a network if you loose one.

But, when on automatic quite often the phone seems to forget to look for a new network.
