Guest colinbowers Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 I am really confused about GPRS. Firstly, I have an o2 pay and go sim and can only access anything over a dial-up connection. I've tried all the setting in the repository for GPRS and non of the seem to work. I presume that I have GPRS activated because I have a "G" at the top of the screen. ( Something I don't get when I try a different simcard ). Also How do they charge for it. I know GPRS is charged for by the MB, but when I Top up with say £20 will o2 reduce my credit when I accumulate 1MB or do I have to pay for something different all together.
Guest martin Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Hi Don't what settings you used but try the following and see if it helps. Create proxy Description : O2 WAP proxy The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP Create GPRS connection Description: O2 WAP The Internet, payandgo.o2.co.uk, payandgo, password Create Dial Up connection Description: O2 CSD The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password In data connection make Internet connection=O2 CSD WAP connection = O2 WAP or O2 CSD In Internet explorer, tick 'Automatically detect settings'. Try to access the O2 homepage: wsp://wap.o2.co.uk If GPRS fails to connect then try the following APN/user/pass instead. wap.o2.co.uk, geniewap, password wap.o2.co.uk, o2wap, password Someone had recently mentioned that they were now able to use their O2 pre-paid APN to access non WML pages so thats something else thats worth trying. How do they charge for it. I know GPRS is charged for by the MB, but when I Top up with say £20 will o2 reduce my credit when I accumulate 1MB or do I have to pay for something different all together.I assume that a charge for total Kb's transferred is done for each GPRS session but I'm not too sure TBH.
