Generic Moto firmware affect ability to upgrade to 2003?

I have downloaded the generic firmware from Motorolla, and am ready to install it. I have one worry though, if the rumored 2003 upgrade does come, would having a generic ROM effect the ability to upgrade at all? If AT&T (the phone branded I have) releases the upgrade, I am worried I won't be able to get it. Any ideas?

Unlikely to affect upgrading to 2003 as the 2003 OS is a complete reflash of the entire ROM not just bits and pieces as you get with the

Orange 1.6 for the E100 etc.

Thanks, but I already flashed it. It is working great, all I need now is my SIM unlock code.

What firmware is this? Is it available to UK Orange users? Thanks.

It is a firmware that was released my Motorolla, and can be used on any MPx200. Just do a search for firmware MPx200, and you should find it somewhere.

actually, i think its only for ATT Mpx200 users. It does rid the phone of m-mode, which is a ATT thing. i was wondering, if i rid the phone of mmode with this firmware, would it affect my ability to use WAP sites or surf?

I don't think so, you would just have to manually setup your internet connection. I could be wrong though as I have never used AT&T.

Thanks. Does the firmware add any extra features?

The firmware was leaked and NOT oficially released by Motorola

I would not recomend using it as it will not improve the UK MPX and

installing it will invalidate your warranty.

I didn't know about the warranty thing. I don't have one, so it doesn't matter for me, but that is good to know when telling other people about it.

Yep :)

Different countries have different warranties, the pinoy members only

get 30 days from new but in the Uk we get 12 months.

Unless you play with them by SIM unlocking and unofficial updating,

and lets not forget taking them apart as well :D

Damn, I didn't know that Sim unlock will void the warranty. Hmmmm, dunno whether I should do it yet then. I wanna use it for my Vodafone SIM.

But I've yet seen anyone actually get pulled on it though O:)

SIM unlock for the mpx? i thought that it only works on the SPV100.

YOu can buy a SIM Unlock code for most phones. I got mine on ebay for $9. I think you are thinking about the program that can generate a SIM unlock code for the SPV, and yes that doesn't work for the MPx.
