Guest jaspain Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 Hi i have just got a new MPx200 and quite keen to find out the advantages this baby has, however i have insurance with orange at an extra cost that means in 3 months i can cancel the contract and have a new phone, does anyone know if the swoftware unlock with void this warranty?, if not do i just install the descert software and its all go from there? Also when trying to send e mail on freeserve it won;t let me however i can read my mails no problem!!!, any ideas.? thanks for your help
Guest scott2eyes Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I'm not sure what playing with the software does to your warranty- to be honest, I've adopted a bit of a "head in the sand" approach to it... As for the email problem, it might be that you've not set your outgoing mail server correctly- go to your inbox>menu>options>email set-up and check it in there (although I couldn't tell you what the entry should be, other than it will be different from the incoming mail server.)
Guest mcwarre Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Welcome to the site! I don't see how having insurance means that you can cancel the contract in 3 months and have a new phone? You may be able to downgrade your talkplan in 3 months (be careful depending on where you bought it it may be 4 months). I have no problems using freeserve. Please post your settings (POP, SMTP etc) I have a feeling that you should still use the smtp.orange.net:25 to send no matter what email address (freeserve, bt etc) you are using.
Guest jaspain Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 hi mcwarre, i took the insurance out with carphone warehouse and i can cancel my contract after 3/4 months return the phone and have a new phone its £25 every 3 moonths my settings are pop3.freeserve.com smtp.freeserve.com connect to: the internet cheers (ps. ive installed ap now anyway to decert my phone however cannot get pocket tv to work, any ideas?)
Guest mcwarre Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 try smtp.orange.net as your sending setting. that cpw deal looks good. do you have a link? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mcwarre Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Does Pocket TV install ok? (i.e. has the decert worked?) IF not sure try something off of www.monolithix.org as this is all freeware and needs the phone unlocked for them to run (just trying to determine if it is a problem with Pocket TV or the unlock)
Guest daviesimpson Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I had the problem of being able to receive emails only. Setting up the SMTP to orange.net fixed the problem. Thanks guys! that's fixed a problem I have had since getting my phone.
