Guest pauldy Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I haven't seen this discussed anywhere but I'm sure some people must be interested in this. Basically what I'm looking for is some way of streaming videos off my computer's hard drive and through the USB cable to my MPx200 to play on PocketTV or PocketMVP. I therefore wouldn't need to keep moving files to my SD card in order to play them, so long as the phone was plugged into the USB port. I've found a sort-of workaround by setting my computer up as a webserver on my college's network and using the pass-through internet connection to stream the video through that, but I'd rather not have to do this as my internet traffic is monitored and webservers are banned at my college! Is there any other way of getting my phone to stream video files off my hard drive? If a pass-through net connection is possible, surely it must be possible to read local files off the hard disk? Hope someone can help!
Guest Smoovey Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 You could setup a local web-server to technically do the same output. If you have Windows 2000 & XP, then one of the add-on components is IIS. Be careful when you install it though and make sure it is updated, otherwise everyone'll get into your system! Well maybe not everyone but there is a risk. There is other web-server software around - check out CNet Download.com for some options. Set one up and restrict the access so only your computer can access it pretty much. Then you just access either localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the IP address. That way it is all local to your machine. I hope that works or at least gives you an idea which might help 8)
Guest kingdom master Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 yeh go to dvix.com, and download mastermind i think its called or somthing like that. u download onto the pc, leave ur pc on. with a internet. preferably broadband. then register on the website and log in from ur spv to their site. and it will show u all ur files. click on one and its streams its very slow unless gprs isnt busy.
Guest midnight Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 yeh, smoovey is correct, dont need to use gprs, just set up a local web stream via IIS and use 127.0.0.1 as the ip, and using windows media encder you should be able to set the audio stream output as any audio thats playing from your computer and if you have an e200 you should be able to connect via bluetooth........which is nice :)
