A LOT of people are still very confused about what mem card to get for their SPV e200. Below is a summary of what i have found, if anyone has anything useful to add then please do so. However please don't add general chat as if we can avoid a huge 4 or 5 page topic then it will be easier for newbies (like me  ) to read. If you have any objections to something i have put then PM me and i can edit this post, that way we can keep it an easy read.

Firstly the difference between SD and MMC seems to be very small. SD Cards look to be slightly faster (Now reported at 4X the speed of MMC cards!) and more efficient, however whether this makes a difference on a mobile device is yet to be seen.

To look for cards in general go to Cool Smart Phone Review

Or have a look at a news clipping for SD Cards here.

All cards that i have currently looked at have been SD, if anyone wants to do a review of MMC cards then feel free to add below. Also all prices are averages. You can find all the cards in a HUGE variety of prices from lots of sources:

Viking - Made by Toshiba

1. Widely available

2. Average cost with other cards

3. Multi-Cell Cards have had LOADS of problems - go for a single-cell card if you want a Viking.

4. General Support - Seems to be good, quick to replace multi-cell for single-cell for e200 users.

Panasonic

1. Go to Panasonic Shop > SD World > Accessories

2. Expensive in comparison

3. Best reports i have seen, no problems as yet - original 8MB card that came with the phone is reported to being Panasonic

4. General Support - Unknown

SanDisk

1. Widely available

2. Average cost with other cards

3. Generally work fine, quite a few data purging problems reported, also some compatability issues with PC's + PDA's

4. General Support - Unknown

Lexar (Reported to be made by Panasonic! - They made the original 8 SD Card you get with the phone)

1. Quite Widely available (amazon, eBuyer £28.99 for 128MB)

2. Slightly cheaper than others

3. No problems reported yet, works with e200, e100 and original SPV

4. General Support - Unknown

Kingmax

1. Quite rare (eBuyer £50 for 256MB! - However the reviews on that page rate the card as cheap and nasty)

2. Much Cheaper than others

3. No serious problems, some booting issues only resolved by removing + re-inserting the card

4. General Support - Unknown

Dane-Electric

1. Very rare

2. Cheap as chips

3. Has worked on e200 - thanks "Stoned_Krusty", but many have reported faults with this card

4. General Support - Unknown

Integral - Thanks to "bdmoore"

1. Widely available

2. Cheaper than most

3. No known issues as yet

4. General Support - Seems to be good, have a look at Value Flash, they have 5 or 10 year garuantees on all their cards (Lexar, Sandisk, Dane-Elec & Integral)

Compaq

1. Relatively Rare

2. Very Expensive - £150 for 256MB

3. Unknown

4. General Support - Unknown

ByteStor

1. Relatively Rare

2. Slighty more than others - Seen from Amazon

3. Unknown

4. General Support - Unknown

Expansys

1. Very Rare - Go to Their Website

2. Slightly Cheaper than others

3. Unknown

4. General Support - Unknown - They have all from 32MB to 1GB(pre-order)

Verbatim

1. Quite Rare

2. Very Expensive - £65 for 128 MB

3. Unknown

4. General Support - Unknown

Things to note:

Viking and Jessops cards are made by Toshiba. I would NOT reccommend buying from either of these 3 brands, unless you can definately get a full refund. Also look into if it is a single cell or multi cell card.

Kelkoo always has links to VERY cheap items. However i would prefer to pay that bit more for a higher quality service / product.

For all those that are interested, i will now be going for a Lexar Card - 256MB. It is relatively cheap £60.26 on eBuyer inc VAT and p&p. It is also reported to being made by Panasonic who made the original card for the SPV. I have read no bad reviews for Lexar, however on eBuyer Sandisk has quite a few bad reviews.

Hope you found something here useful :)

If you have trouble in finding any of the above cards then please PM me, again do not post here unless you have a review of a card.

I'm using a Dane-Elec 512MB SD card and so far have been impressed by it.

It was £110, which is a lot cheaper than I've found any other for that size, it works fine with my SPV e200, no issues yet, and doesn't seem to own my battery life. I on average will get a few days (most i've had is 3) with an average amount of use (just to confuse the SD card -> battery life issue :)

Hope that shaeds some light on the Dane-Elec stuff :D

I noticed you haven't mentioned Integral cards - I have two of these and they both work fine on my E200. I also don't seem to have too much battery drain with it - I could easily get two days battery life with it in! :)
